And how would one know if any individual would be put off by the
split role? It may be something that some people would really
       appreciate.

Dalrymple mentioned this guy in a throw away one liner. I was
wondering how big his contribution was to our turnaround. Anyone
with a spy in the camp, could you ask them? I mean was he
seriously useful or a management fad or sort of meh or what?

I don't have inside information, but given that Eastwood
specialises in performance culture and both Gustard's departure
and Matson's selection were tied to the culture that Quins want
to establish, and that Lawrie is still referring to him six
months later, I'd imagine that he's got an ongoing relationship
       with Quins.
As to whether what he does is a fad, or meh, there's enough of
his stuff online and in books that you can make your own mind
up. He's certainly highly valued in New Zealand:

Taken from Eastwood’s Twitter account after the final:
“It's been a brilliant experience working with Harlequins this
season. I'm hoping teams in other spheres take inspiration from
how Quins have everyone aligned to a clear 'Us' story; flattened
their hierarchy to empower all; and pushed each other to express
       their unique talents”

Flannery mentions Eastwood on the rugby pod
Says that when Millard brought him in he naturally thought it's
all fluff but was probably the most important thing they did.

Well, as I suspected, it does look as if Owen Eastwood has had
an important part in the turn around that we've seen since
Christmas. If you think about past teams, we've not had the mind
set or belief to chase a losing situation, let alone one the
       size of 20+ points.
