sorry but I don't believe any club in any sport would allow the
players to dictate things to that level, they may give input
which the mgt act on but they dont decide things. JK was a great
forwards coach but struggled as DOR, we were pretty poor didnt
need players to say we needed a change. Gussie I wasn't
convinced that he wasn't doing a good job, with covid
interruption and yes losing some games to some very good EU
teams this isnt a season I could judge him by.

The interesting takeaway for me was that Danny's answer to this
question from Jones was less than convincing. He almost seemed
to dodge the question. I do wonder if there is something in the
cliquey/toxic squad culture murmurs.

I get the feeling that the players just didn't fancy the type of
rugby Gussey wanted to play. They want to play a Bristol type of
game. Gusset wanted a Sarries type of game.
The players in there one to one meetings defo had a part to
play. When ugo said that players like Smith need to play a tempo
game, you could hear in his voice that he has been talking to
the players about it.
I didn't like the attitude in the podcast. Care trying to paint
that the player had nothing to do with it. Pull the other one.

This is a really good point TomBuckQuin. DC's presence on the
podcast means he was more media exposure than many players and
so will be relatively adept at sidestepping questions like this
one.

They were both very uninspiring appointments, so it doesnt
surprise me at all that the staff felt that way.

It's all very well saying that JK left because the players
wanted him out, but it slightly ignores the fact that under his
tenure it's the first time in 20+ years of going to the Stoop
that I've regularly seen fans leaving games early in anger /
despair, rather than the usual handful who are desperate to get
to the pub / car and who have no real interest in the rugby
anyway.

Danny went out of his way to say that the board did a full
appraisal of the entire club - which means investigating and
talking to players, staff, and any other involved parties. He
did say that there's no "senior player" clique from ten years
ago, given that there's only him and Marler left (he had to be
reminded about Brown, which means Brown either rarely says
anything or is on his way out anyway).
If the players were unhappy but the coaches were fine, Gustard
would still be there. He'd also probably still be there if we'd
been any good over the last 18 months, but I digress.
