       Gustard's next position
   DIR By: Fearless Fred
       Date: January 26, 2021, 5:33 am

is as Defence coach at Benneton. Just been announced
  HTML https://benettonrugby.it/paul-gustard-sara-il-prossimo-assistant-head-coach-con-delega-alla-difesa/.<br
/>One interesting thing is the quote from Gustard (my emphasis
       added):
“I am thrilled and happy to join Benetton Rugby for the 2021/22
season. When my wife Laura and I decided in December that we
wanted a new experience and new challenges, we were delighted to
have so many opportunities available to us nationally and
internationally. We wanted to be part of a group where there was
a clear vision, a deep level of trust and a dynamic environment
       driven towards high goals.
When I first spoke to Marco and he explained his plans and
vision in detail, I felt inspired by his passion and energy.
This link was deepened together with general manager Pavanello
who outlined a clear strategic and cultural purpose for the club
and my specific roles within it.
I already feel extremely involved and have a strong alignment
with Antonio and the club management, so I know this is the
right opportunity for us. They have been nothing short of
exceptional in the way they communicated with me and we are very
excited to be joining the club.
Benetton Rugby has a talented roster of players with an exciting
team of coaches. I am looking forward to assisting and
supporting this team in our collective development. It has only
been a few years since the club played the PRO14 final series,
an incredibly exciting, tough competition that with the entry of
the best South African teams will only continue to grow.
I want to test myself, improve and contribute to Benetton
Rugby's future success. I will strive to learn the language,
embrace the culture and invest in them in the same way they did
with me. I can't wait to move to one of the most beautiful
places in the world and meet the players, the staff and be part
of a very special family! " this is how an enthusiastic Paul
Gustard expressed himself, close to entering the green-and-white
       family.

That was quick - not particularly surprised at our form now if
Gustard has known he’s off since December. Oh well, best of luck
to him - he’ll work wonders with that Benetton squad. Wonder if
he’ll be after the Italy job after 2023 too

       Good luck to him.
He worked super hard to turn Quins around. Shame he didn't get a
chance to finish the job. But that is sport for you, just look
at Chelsea, what a laughing stock they have become.

Chelsea have won ten trophies in ten years. Not sure laughing
stock is the right term - they go through managers quickly but
it seems to actually work out!

Also this......not a glowing endorsement of the environment he's
       left.

Ouch......makes it sound like he’s just escaped a nest of
       vipers.

While also completely absolving himself of any responsibility.
I liked Gustard, while not being sure about his effectiveness as
a coach. Another lesson that someone's public persona can be
very different to reality. That parting swipe at Quins shows the
"class" of the guy. We lost coaches directly because of his
       attitude...

Interesting that Gustard brought Lampard into the Quins camp to
talk management, success, etc and both lose their job within a
       week of each other

And presumably you're going to have to change your username now
       the game is up, Frank.
