Think Nick Easter will definitely step up to becoming a dor. Why
not appoint him? And Harlequins runs through his veins.

I didnt realise that Robertson was the clubs second choice to
take over when PG got the job (According to the Telegraph).
Easter is interesting, he did cross my mind (not that it matters
       what I think)

Easter has only been at Falcons for 5 minutes and with no head
coach experience would be another gamble, so no thanks. He's
probably my favourite Quins player though, so I would love it if
he came back as a successful head coach/DOR in the future.

Sorry to pick out a small part of a good post DOK but why is
Quins such a tough nut to crack? I think you're right by the
way! Undoubtedly there's something odd about the place as
similar problems persist almost regardless of personnel and
coaching teams. Well, post the middle of the COS era anyway.

One left field choice could be Andy Friend from Connacht... was
part of Deano’s back room staff. Did well with the Aussie 7s
       before doing alright at Connacht.

There often seems to have been some sort of mental/attitude
problem or weakness with the team. Maybe the schools in the
catchment area breed too many blouses.
Anyone know what Rudi Straeuli is up to these days?

       Oh my word.
Yes, in a couple of years' time we'll just promote another once
in a generation talent from the academy to replace Smith.

Aside from the Premiership title he won in his first season in
charge, the Heineken Cup runners up medal from his first season
in charge and the Premiership title he won in his second season
       in charge... sure DOK! ;)
He didn't do quite as well towards the end of his tenure, sure,
but squads change, other teams change and challenges change. He
did a great job and also has done a great job at Edinburgh,
adding some steel to their performances.

But then arguably the same problem applies to other clubs.
Gloucester go from 3rd to 7th to bottom. Saints are having
similar issues. Even Sale and Wasps have been fairly up and
down. Exeter and Sarries are really the only two consistently
successful teams of recent years. Both have real continuity in
terms of coaching structure. One cheated massively.
Bristol have done very well and have splashed the cash. It
remains to be seen if they can maintain that when the lesser
       paid players need contract renewing

Agreed - the club has gone backwards with this appointment and
with no cash going through the tills, average recruitment and no
team spirit it’s going to be a rough ride - if I were a talented
future international (I wish), not sure I’d want to be hanging
around to gamble on the club making it better.
