Hoping we have already lined up a replacement - so Millard can
takes on the DOR role but who is the head coach and who is
dealing with defence? (ok it hasn't been great recently, but
still...) we've got no-one who can step up into those roles as
far as I'm aware.

about Lancaster. I was happy to see him get the England job
after his work with the Saxons. Didn't really like what I saw
with England - in fact I think there are similarities with
Gustard. He seems to be doing well with Leinster, but not in the
top job.

Snap! Ben Ryan (who was of course interviewed last time round)
would also get my vote

And where does the CEO and Directors sit in this mess? They are
the ones responsible for the appointments of JK and PG who have
both failed.
I very much query their competence to run a successful business.

It needs to be someone with DoR experience. Someone else summed
it up on another thread (I think), along the lines of "We do not
need another gamble who can experiment on Quins" We need
someone that knows the job. Ryan would be a no for me. I know
you cannot be certain of success but he would be another "punt".
Some will question "who is out there/free" but there are always
people available. PG was in a job when we nabbed him, thats not
a problem.
I have been critical of our coaches as I do not think any have
really shown an improvement in the side since they came in. I
wonder now that PG has gone we may see something different from
them?? In truth they are probably "playing" for their jobs now
so if ever they are going to produce it is now

Whoever comes in they need to be able to bring in the coaches
they want to work with.

I'm not surprised at all with this. Things were clearly not
right. It did not seem a happy camp from the outside. I cannot
see Mike Brown ever leaving unless there was something very very
wrong. Gustard has clearly upset a few people & totally lost the
players. How & why we'll hopefully find out.
Did Millard & Gustard fall out? Perhaps Millard emerged as the
strongest & most experienced of them both & Gustard couldnt
handle it? Did the players have something to do with it? Did
they support Millard? Did Jones & Flannery take sides? All
conjecture but it will be very interesting to see how we perform
under Millard. Thought must have been given towards the probable
ringfencing, maybe the club know more on this? So making this
change now wasnt such a risk? Or perhaps Gustard simply found
another job as was mentioned earlier?
I certainly wouldnt want to see Lancaster, Diamond, come here.
I'd love to have Cockerill, but when the club did their
worldwide search & came up with John Kingston, they could have
had Cockerill, why would he leave Edinburgh for us now? It would
be magical if Scott Robertson has announced that he will do a
three year coaching stint abroad, at Harlequins, then take over
the All Blacks if it goes well, but I think that is dream
status.
This has probably come down to budget cutting, which probably
solves a personel clash, & with enough time left in the season
to get things turned around.
Good luck Billy!

We have a different CEO from the one that headed up the
appointment of JK and Gustard

Leo Cullen seems to be rubbing along fairly well at Leinster ;)

Bit surprised that it has happened so quickly.
Smith would only be offered by his agent. He doesn't need 'the
club' to offer him around. Hope and think the Mail are just
adding drama there. Gustard leaves Quins isn't a huge story in
itself so they may as well lob some rumours in.
They need to get the next appointment right. No more promoting
from within, no more experiments.

The “insider” is right again and had said a while ago that Gussy
was not popular. Not just with them it seems. I would assume
that players agents have been trying to find new clubs if they
aren’t happy with Gustard even if it is only designed to put
pressure on those above PG into not renewing his contract. This
is the time of year when contracts are negotiated or not
extended so there will be a lot happening over the next month.
Let’s hope we can keep our best players who are OOC. I thought
Marchant had just signed a new contract last year so would need
to be bought out of it.
