This can't be seen as a very promising signal to the players and
my worry is that our season will now go into free fall. If it's
true that we've been offering out Marcus Smith to other clubs
what does that tell him? If he goes I'm sure others will
follow.

In the current circumstances the club has to be managed in
Financial survival mode.
If ringfencing (or no relegation) is a cert for this year, and
next, every opportunity to cut significant cost and gain revenue
has to be taken.
It won't matter how the team performs as long as the club
survives.
I fear many will not!

I agree. The only thing could be that if the players had stopped
responding to Gussy, now that he is gone they might have a new
lease of life.
I hope it is the case but I am worried.

Shame that this has happened just days after I donated money to
the club via the 'credit rather than refund' scheme.
Also annoying that this week's edition of the
Care/Ashton/Monye/Jones podcast has just played out. Next
week's might be an interesting listen.
I am sorry to see Gustard go, but if there is serious discord at
the club, and if he is the root cause of it then it may be for
the best.
The rumour about Marcus had better be groundless!

Not at all disappointed. With relegation being unlikely assuming
the season even finishes there's no need to rush an appointment.

We're probably not... but we play in a far more attractive
league!

Reading the Mail article it says: 'Marcus Smith is understood to
have been offered to rivals'-but it does not say by whom. It is
certainly true his agent has been offering him around and that
could be what the Mail means. I'm not sure it necessarily means
the Club are offering him?

I saw someone talking to JK after the last match...
Had the club offered Marcus S up for tender, the other clubs
would be jumping up and down, the French would have broken their
curfew and there would be more leaks than a Dutch dyke or a
Taff's vegetable patch. I don't believe that bit (but I'm
probably wrong, doh, Im so miserable and my name's Marvin)...
By all accounts, Diamond left for personal reasons and I cant
see him wanting to come down here and look after a load of
southern pansies; likewise, why would anyone in a good job -
Lancaster, Cockerill, CoS want to abandon a good post and dive
into a club that is malfunctioning at a time when you cant
travel, so anything etc and enter a dressing room that has been
"lost". Any immediate replacement would be from left field and
hopefully temporary - until league format and COVID resolved.

I dont buy the Smith being offered around story. Makes no sense
at all. Likewise the "England internationals looking to
leave". No direct quotes, nothing to back it up. If Smith had
been offered around, or Marler/others had requested a move I
expect this would have been more widely reported. The whole
Marler thing seems to be based on a rumour from one source
(Planet Rugby). If anything, I would say PG going now would
make it more likely that the players mentioned would stay (In a
kind of him or us way).
The club seem in no rush to appoint a replacement based on the
release. This all kind of backs up the no relegation this
season story (despite what the Sale chap had to say). As for
the finances, one thing that was reported around was that we
were in a decent place (along with about 5/6 other sides) so Im
not sure that stacks up with the players wanting out rumours.
My guess is that would be more of a players not happy with the
set up situation

I just read that the ring fencing is not certain as apparently
it still has to through the RFU and to them relegation/promotion
is sacrosanct. How true that is I'm not sure but throw a spanner
in the works for some clubs.
