No concern that he's a 3rd guy in a row with no proven dor
record?

Best shout I’ve seen so far TBH.

Sean Edward would be great, but he has a good thing going in
France, I would be surprised if he’s interested.

With no explanation as yet, perhaps Gustard left because the
club really have offered Smith elsewhere?

rugby, particularly at club level, is just a bit pony, and
really not that entertaining to watch most of the time. Bristol
buck the trend there, as do Exeter (IMO at least, I know some
disagree) but for a lot of teams' fans, I'd say the majority of
the time they're just watching... boring/bad rugby.

I couldn’t disagree more. I think club rugby is far more
entertaining than international rugby, for the most part. The
premiership consistently delivers entertaining, high scoring
games. I think it’s a great brand of rugby. I agree Bristol (and
in my opinion Wasps) lead the way, but I think just about every
team in the premiership plays entertaining rugby.

the idea that the modern game is dull precisely because it has
become a business. People won't like this, but there was a lot
of excitement in the amateur game because it was amateur.
Adventurous play prospered when people's livelihoods did not
depend on what happened at 3pm on a Saturday. This isn't a bad
case of nostalgia by the way, but an emphasis of the point that
if you make a game professional, you must expect the people
playing it to put their personal interests, rather than the
interests of fans first.

Nah. The majority of sports are professional, doesn't stop them
being decent. Rugby's issue is with the laws and resultant
physicality, not its professional status.
Given the parameters, the only way to have interesting rugby is
to do as nz and insist on a priority on skills at every level.
Otherwise big and strong beats small and skillful every time.
Of course, small and skillful is better, but it's much harder to
do, especially at age group. So the kids coming through are the
protein fuelled monsters and the small guys play football.

Have we considered it was Gustard who suggested smith should go,
rather than others at the club?

I'll eat my hat if that happens. Flannery has even admitted in
interviews that he's only just cutting his teeth in coaching.

After two spells in interim charge he was appointed full-time
head coach in April 2009, with Tigers winning the Premiership
title and reaching the European Cup final in his first season in
the role.
Leicester had never failed to reach the Premiership semi-finals
under Cockerill and as well as winning the final in 2008-09,
they were also victorious in 2009-10 and 2012-13.
And that's failure???? But family and contract commitments will
keep him at Edinburgh.

If there is relegation this season, Quins are in real trouble.
