Smith has to stay and we must sign up a DoR immediately so that
players know the next phase in the club, we cannot repeat the
last 5 years, we must get someone on board who it is I don't
know but it must be soon and will probably be down to how is
available. I can't cope with another scouring of the world for
the best available candidate and coming up with our existing
forwards coach

Gustard started really well and then half way through his first
season fell out with Alex Codling who left-results went south
after that. Codling good coach-bring him back?

Never stays anywhere very long. I also thing he had a few
problems, maybe health wise??

Harlequins is a tough nut to crack, there are good players who

Huh! If I had the answer to that I'd be shouting it from the
rooftops. I was glad COS came in to settle us all down after
bloodgate, but I wasn't convinced by his record. For a while
"The Harlequins Way" seemed to work, but other teams worked us
out and there was no plan B.

Didn't Codling go back to Ealing and leave again very shortly
afterwards? Not sure what the deal is there, but certainly seems
to be an issue with Codling rather than Gustard on that front.
Having said I'd be happy to see Ben Ryan, I agree that perhaps
now is not the time to take a gamble.
Easter in a few years maybe, but plenty were happy to see him
leave when he oversaw our pretty poor defence. Some time away
from the club, let the last of his former team mates retire, and
then he might be a good appointment in time

I think people are missing the issue, Flannery was never going
to be just a coach away from Munster he is being lined up for
more. I think we will see him promoted to DOR/Head Coach in the
near future/end of the season.

Not Nick Easter. Love the guy to death and he bleeds the
quarters, but no experience at this level.
OK, on reflection we have to look at Jim Mallinder, who took a
relegated Northampton side to the top of the table. Of course
there's the question would he want the job, he's currently
performance director for Scottish Rugby. I would say he has the
credentials I'd like to see on the CV of a putative DOR.

Having left Ealing the rumours are he's off to London Scottish.
So by the end of the season he should be looking for another
club so he will probably be available.
For a month or two.
If we are that desperate I'll give it a go.
