Founded in 1866, Harlequins is a rugby club that is recognised
around the world. The club is a founding member of the RFU and
boasts more presidents than any other club as well as a healthy
dose of international players. Harlequins are looking to recruit
outgoing and creative performers to take on the roles of Harley
and Charley, our official Club mascots. We are looking for
confident individuals with lots of energy and passion to ensure
the characters are brought alive on a Match day.
Job Title: Harlequins Club Mascot
Pay: £10 per hour.
Start Date: 24th August 2018
Hours: 4-6 hours per matchday.
Role Purpose: Proactively engage with supporters; making people
smile with your energy and
passion. Ensuring supporters leave remembering a remarkable day.
Key Accountabilities:
• Act as a Harlequins ambassador meeting and greeting
spectators.
• Entertain supporters pre-match and during half-time.
• Build a rapport with supporters by actively engaging with
people of all ages.
• Ensure that the Character brief is adhered to at all times.
• Work alongside the Operations Coordinator to ensure Match Day
Objectives are met.

• Confident in engaging with supporters of all ages and
backgrounds positively and proactively
• Passionate about delivering a first-class experience for all
of our supporters.
• Confidence in performing to a public audience.
• Creative, outgoing and fun character.
• Reliable and committed to working all home fixtures
• Ability to work unsupervised, using your own initiative.
• A genuine team player.
Skills and Knowledge
• Experience in dance, drama, theatre studies, expressive arts.
• Experience working with children.
Behaviours

requirements of internal and
external customers; acts with customers in mind; values
importance of providing high-quality
customer service
• Leadership – Promotes confidence and optimistic attitude
through inspiring and motivating the
team.

I wonder if this is because they've introduced the new female
bear mascot? Or did I dream that? No, I'm not into bears. Prefer
otters.

I know they've introduced a new female mascot, so does that mean
we'll have three? I still reckon the best team of mascots we had
were the brother & sister team who retired about 4 years back.
They knew how to interact with kids (not surprising as one of
them was a teacher, I believe), when to get the crowd cheering,
when to get out of the way, and could actually raise a genuine
laugh with their antics at times.

Yes, they were very good! And I liked the first incarnation of
Harley "Biker" Bear, even if I did have my doubts about all that
leather and studs!

Perhaps this is an ad for the new bear keepers? You know,
someone to straw down after the match, and provide them with
enough honey and stuff, keep them entertained between matches,
that kind of thing?

Do they really need to break it down into Key Accountablities,
Personal Qualities, Skills & Knowledge and Behaviours? Can't you
just say "Match day mascot dressed as a bear. Entertain people."
