Did Hobson play for England with Baxter?? I'm sure I read about
Baxter playing on the other side to a Quins team mate for
England (and them being quite a pair)??

Played together at Wellington College, not sure about England as
Newcastle have had some excellent looseheads coming through in
this age group. Hobson is a serious unit, not sure we’ve had a
player with his size and physicality coming through the academy
for a while now.

Smith/Schoeman, the back up Lang/DeGlanville and the 3rd choice
Herron/The Academy chap

young champ FH or an experienced older head who is happy as back
up

I just can't see how Schoeman - a sub-international player who's
nearly 30, with 74 Super Rugby & Top 14 appearances in that
time, plus 37 Currie Cup matches - is a replacement for
Priestland (150 Scarlets appearances, 100+ Bath appearances, 50
caps for Wales). He seems like backup to me, but perhaps I'm
missing something. It's a real step down in quality.
So I don't really view him as an equivalent to Smith either, who
has 93 Quins appearances and more points than Schoeman's scored
in his entire pro career...
I worry we've not heard the end of it.

the latter days of his career, once his England role was
finished, did he leave for Toulon and win a Heineken Cup Medal.

upon him.

Not really the same. He went to Newcastle when they were buying
everyone up left right and centre. They won the title that year
with Andrew and Wilkinson. By the time they dropped down the
league wilko was in the top 2 fly halves in the world. Marcus
doesn't have a cap yet.
Newcastle 97/98 squad...

Normally announce the academy intake towards the end of the
season. However with no under 18s games being played this season
so far, I wonder if the announcement will be made earlier. I
assume Quins will have already created their shortlist and might
invite players in for sessions. I know that Bradley was involved
at the start of the season.

-Forgive an old ex-smoker, but every time I see a Player
(geddit?) called Benson, I start hoping we find another called
Hedges.
[-& Yes, I am aware that deadly retains Lambert the Butler.]

Laurie Dalrymple on the Quins YouTube chanel-
"It's frustrating sometimes to hear those rumours. When it comes
to Marcus for example, It would just be completely illogical
for us to spend all that time building a squad around someone to
just let him walk out the door when we've spent years building
him to the level which we think he is capable."
Also says that we should have announcements very soon and for
supporters not to worry about this key young players that we are
building around. He doesn't know where those rumours come from
but it's not the club and it's not the player (so agent chat
basically)

That is certainly a positive response. If he shares the belief
of building the team around Marcus and co that bodes well for us
going all out to keep him

Laurie always comes across very well I think. Interesting
comments on club culture and players/coaches enjoying
themselves. Very pleasing to hear Marcus and Dombrandt name
checked as key players for Quins’ future. Surprised Northmore
was namechecked too over players like Chis or Evans.
