Baldwin has been an improvement but, before lockdown I would
have said Musk was out best hooker. Shame he has been left out.
I agree that if we have relegation, now is the time to play the
youngsters (that are good enough).
Play Hammond over Cavubatu, Kenningham or the chap from Scottish
over white or Di Carpentier, The Kiwi over Landajo, Lennox over
Taps or even Lang (as he is off). In truth, when these guys
have got a chance, none have really looked out of place in their
brief cameos. Of course we need some quality incoming, no doubt
about that but rather than play some of the (I mean no
disrespect here, and for want of a better word) deadwood, give
the youngsters ago. Will stand the squad in a better place going
forward.

Absolutely agree with all of that. I’d also like a clear message
from the club as to where we’re going at least then we could get
behind it and fully support them. At the moment I think we’re
all reading between the lines and coming up with our own
version.

not sure the club will know a clear direction etc. the loss of
revenue from covid and how long that goes on for, yes we are
losing some big names and larger salaries perhaps but that wont
mean we will spend up to the current salary cap moving forward,
we might not be able to afford to same for most clubs. There
have been all sorts of talk about clubs close to the brink, the
spending power on salaries might not be that great this coming
season.

I think it will depend if they see Tian Schoeman, who they
announced on an 18 month contract earlier this week from
Cheetahs, as sufficient cover for the loss of Priestland next
season.

As it stands they have 3 FH
Preistland
De Glandville
The Academy chap whose name escapes me
Preistland leaves and Schoeman comes in. I cant see them going
for another FH. It's a bit like us. We have the first choice
Smith/Schoeman, the back up Lang/DeGlanville and the 3rd choice
Herron/The Academy chap
We are losing Lang and potentially Herron. Rumour of the Cardiff
Met FH coming in. I would guess we will add either a young champ
FH or an experienced older head who is happy as back up

Care mentions building the team around Smith and Dommers in his
resigning video - I'd take that as a good sign.

The academy player for Bath is Orlando Bailey. A very promising
player who I imagine Bath will be seeing as their future at 10.
I do expect Jamie Benson from the Quins under 18 academy side
to be given a professional contract at the end of the year.
Played in the under 18s as a u16 and has consistently been
picked for England age group camps. I think this year’s academy
intake is going to be significantly better than those in recent
times.

Yep Cleaves looks electric in attack. Add in Hobson who formed a
brilliant partnership with Baxter at Wellington, Jibulu at
hooker and then Ojo as a centre/ wing and it’s an excellent
intake. I’ve mentioned before but if we can keep hold of Bradley
who plays 12, it would be a significant coup for us.
