Someone well connected is saying that he’s still their number 1
target and he’s not put pen to paper yet.
I hope he’s wrong, but everything on the playing side looks very
       unsettled right now :-(

Certainly you'd expect a team as well-heeled as Bath to not
settle for a journeyman Saffer as their primary 10.

I can imagine that with extra money being freed up, by the loss
of a number if out of contract players, brown, Ashton
etc....could mean that Smith's agent is spreading these rumours
just to help inflate Smiths wage demands as his contract is up.
To stay and become a leader, I assume Smith would want to
improve his wages and also become a leader in that perspective.
Let's hope Gustard is working with him and reassure g him about
who else is coming in next season to replace this we lose.

I do like Northmore Stoopendous but was hoping that Marchant
would still be around long term. And I think he's already on
       good money.

Hopefully Bath completing the signing of Schoeman will put an
end to the rumours of Smith moving.

No matter what losing Smith will be a true sign there is
something wrong at the club. Also with Herron linked with a move
to France we could be down to no FH.
Like others have said I don’t see him leaving however I am
getting worried about our rumoured outflow and no news of
       inflow.

We have been linked with a few incoming, and in truth, with no
disrespect meant, I dont think any of the out goings are earth
shattering to us (despite some of the hysteria)**
I'm.not including Marler or Smith as I dont see either leaving

I do agree to some extent but losing Baldwin who is clearly 1st
choice right now and leaves us with Elia who cannot be relied on
at lineout. Then a couple of youngsters who I’m excited by but
if they are seen as some sort of replacement would surely be on
the bench more often to get blooded into the prem.
Losing Brown is not as bad as it would have been a few years
back however whose his replacement Green not getting game time
or Lynagh being payed on wing Linked with Watson which I’d like
to see but has divided opinion as most do.
I suppose it doesn’t help with this fragmented season. However
if the no relegation is correct surely this is the season to
take risk and play those who sit as 2nd choice.

       Totally agree.
I really hope that we continue to see the youngsters introduced
into the playing squad and getting game time. Baxter, Musk,
Tizard, Hammond, Kenningham, Anyanwu, Lynagh, Green etc.....need
       to be given game time.
Signings will be great, but Gustard will need to make sure that
the signings are of similar quality to Esterhuzen, Lewis, and
Louw. Not Garcia Botta, Big Tex etc... etc....

Players come and players go, let be honest there are going to be
less and less 'one club men' going forward.
For sure losing key players will be(is) disrupting for any team
in any sport but its a professional game where your next game
could, unfortunately, be your last and your career is relatively
time limited so I don't blame people 'chasing' the money if its
       on offer.
I'd personally like the team to be built around a number of
younger players such as Smith, Dombrandt, Lynagh, Musk, Tizard
but fully accept that experience is also much needed as its a
result orientated industry and 'fans' wouldn't accept continual
failure but if relegation was suspended for 2 years, as reported
it might be, use the time well by continuing to develop, grow
and play the youngsters to build that core....
