Which should excite us. Although Young seems to have flipped a
switch lately, I still don't think he's physically dominant
enough. Hoping we land an absolute monster, after so long
       needing one...

Really excited to see what A league standard fodder we bring in

Shame about Lang but understandable from his point of view. I
think he's a really valuable squad player and I'm always happy
to see him start. Not a surprise but still a shame. Wish him
       well with his move.
Young is a complete surprise. It's a bit of a shame as he's
improved significantly in recent times. I'm not gutted and wish
him well, but it's important we sign a decent replacement. We
need someone who can start games regularly when called on, as
our first choice locks are often injured, Symons especially.
Whoever comes in has to be premiership quality, not someone who
needs a year or 2 to get up to standard. I'm sure that Tizard
and Hammond are ear marked as future starters, but we probably
need a decent first choice lock for the next 2 years
Anyway, good luck to them both and thanks for all they've done

Who are the lots of players??
2 young scottish players moving to a scottish side, that will
probably give them more game time and a chance to play for
       Scotland.
Ashton is no loss. After his last performance I would happily
       drive him to Worcs myself
Care/Brown - Been said elsewhere but both coming to the end, on
decent money I would expect. Not the players they were on a
consistent level. Would another contract be value for money for
Quins, or would it help improve the squad elsewhere.
Marler - Rumour, nothing substantial to back it up.
I just find it strange how people take rumour and gossip, put it
together and come up with fact. Of the players that may leave,
how many are the clubs choice, how many would we have liked to
keep (also taking into account salary cap and value for money).

Look - if Bish, Quintron and MaidstoneQuin say so, then it must
be a fact. These three are always very positive about Quins

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, that's what is great on
here, the discussion. I just think if you are going to make a
big claim, try and back it up with some kind of fact, or
reasonable argument rather than a complete guess based on a few
       rumours

If we lived in a world with no gossip or reading between the
lines, what a boring world that would be. I am entitled to my
own educated guess. I do not profess this to be a fact or even
the truth. Just my own instincts and looking at the situation
with an eye to team dynamics.
I have worked in a company before where factions and groups can
lead to a risk to the company. I resigned with a colleague from
a business years ago to set up my own business. On that one day,
7 other people handed in their resignation.

I think sports teams are a little different though. Very
different pressures, different contract situations, etc.
Anyway, sorry to see Lang go, can understand why. Young I'm not
fussed by; we need better players in that position. If he was
Victor Matfield at lineout time I'd be happy, but he was just
"good" there and not particularly impressive anywhere else.
Hopefully we can replace him well, rather than having a
destitute man's Geoff Parling as our go-to as soon as there's an
       injury.

Gussy has been pretty explicit that he thinks the balance of the
squad is too old and he wants to freshen it up. As part of that,
we are going to see players leave, some of them ones that we
       might have wanted to keep.
In the case of Lang and Young I doubt it's anything particularly
sinister. They arrived as squad players and have developed to
the point where for their own development they need more first
team rugby, but there are still players ahead of them in the
Quins squad. If someone else can offer them that game time it's
completely unsurprising that they would want to take it.
In the case of Brown and possibly Care, taking a final playing
contract somewhere that can help them transition into coaching
is also a sensible move, and while it would be sad to see them
go I would rather that they made the move than hung on at a time
when it doesn't really help their ambitions and equally hinders
the development of their successors. It's very similar to
Robshaw going to the US in that sense.
I would be a bit more worried if Marler left. He is still at the
top of his game and there are good reasons to believe that he
would have to be very unhappy to leave rather than it being a
rational career move. However, at the moment it's only rumour.

It wouldn't come as a huge surprise to me if Gustard wanted to
get rid of / didn't desperately try to keep hold him, some of
the older, established players. If he wants to mould the team to
his preferred style, perhaps he doesn't want people like Care,
Brown, Marler, etc around, who might question him or revert back
to old ways. I have no evidence of that and might be way off,
but it doesn't sound completely fanciful.
If he wants to really make the team "his", then by appointing a
new captain you've signed, letting some of the club legends move
on and building the team around players you've signed / brought
into the first ream from the academy, you have a better chance
       of doing that.
Again, not saying that is what's happening and not saying that
Lang and Young leaving, or Brown leaving, would back that up in
any way at all, but I don't think it's a ridiculous notion
