Joe was certainly heard asking a question about where the (ahem)
defence was at one point. Quite common in the heat of battle I
think but obviously not ideal with the lack of a crowd meaning
shouts are more easily picked up by TV. I thought the ref did
well by presumably reminding him of this.

If you don’t think the players should swear you had better not
watch the women who are normally quite audible as there aren’t
many in the crowd at the games anyway. And I don’t mean our
women, just generally. Even in the U18s games you hear it.
Personally I accept swearing as an outcry for hurting
yourself or making a mistake. What grinds my gears is the every
other word type which then loses any relevance to the situation.
eg. Gordon “@§%£I ing “ Ramsey. Kyle was reprimanded for
screaming out like that by Karl who told him he would be leaving
the field if it happened again. I think Kyle might have thought
that he wouldn’t get told off by an ex teammate rather than Karl
letting him off for that reason. I’ve always found Karl very
fair when I’ve seen him in action on TV games.

I quite like Karl as a referee, generally, but I do note that he
seems to get a lot more 'help' in his ear from the touch judges
and TMO (suggestions, etc.) than other (more experienced?)
referees seem to. Or maybe that's just my impression. Suggests
that he currently misses a fair amount.

I think AR and TMO vary hugely in their input. One AR working
with Karl never stopped and the other didn’t utter last
weekend!

I fear that many who think players shouldn't swear also thing
that women shouldn't be playing rugby!

... but you can't stop people who've previously said some pretty
vile things about both Kyle and Battersea from repeatedly
showing themselves up

"Sinckler contested the charge but it was upheld. He is free to
play again on February 9, making him available for England's
second Six Nations fixture against Italy at Twickenham."
So - he would miss the first match v Scotland
