I was very surprised he didn't get marched back 10 or a yellow.
I don't agree Dickson was lenient on his because they're
ex-teammates. I think that's just an easy criticism.
Williams and Sinckler should probably get token bans, a match
each maybe, just to send a warning to others and crack down on
it. It would be a bit harsh on them but maybe necessary for the
greater good.
As for Marler swearing, was this at the ref or just generally? I
don't have a problem with them swearing generally. It happens,
the comms team apologise, people watching can explain to their
children. If he swore art the ref though then he should also get
cited like Sinckler

I thought that Joe was sweating at his teammates. Something
about defence I think?
Btw who is the Williams mentioned above?

Little bit of pedantry, Kyle yelled "are you f***ing kidding
me?".
He should get his wrist slapped, but I'm pleased LCD got
penalised for that tackle. The last couple of years has seen
this incredibly low head-first tackle appear - there's never any
arm usage, and it's really, really dangerous to both the tackler
and the target.

So what, swearing at teammates or rivals. It is not a good look
for the game. Especially with younger ones watching. I am not a
shrinking violet and often can be found ffing and blinding.
However, I'm not on the telly in front of millions of sets of
eyes and ears.
Respect in the game is one of the things that sets it apart from
other sports, so it needs to be stamped out.
I have to say, that I did see the ref have word with Marler
about this. So at least it is being addressed and highlighted.

Liam Williams. Sorry. Got sent off at the weekend for dangerous
play at a ruck and as he was walking off said "Let's just play
touch then shall we". Or words to that effect. His coach excused
him, same way Sale's coach excused his player's cheap shot
against Gloucester a couple of weeks ago.
I know it must be hard for coaches to criticise their own
players after a game, and I'd expect them to give their player
the benefit of the doubt if there is some question as to whether
a particular incident was foul play or not. But where it is
clear cut it would be nice if the coaches were honest enough to
condemn the act, without condemning the player. eg. What Kyle
said was unacceptable. It is not in his nature, heat of the
game, he will regret it, but we cannot accept that in our game
and I will be speaking to him to ensure he is aware of his
responsibilities. Some guff like that.

I mean... swearing in rugby has been commonplace for decades.
You just don't swear at the ref. I'm not sure this is a moral
high ground situation. These guys are grown men in a highly
stressful and highly physical environment - bad language is
going to happen.
Quins would love having millions of viewers for club rugby
though ;)

I only caught the second half of the Chiefs / Bristol match, but
I thought overall Dickson did a good job of reffing the game.
He's a good communicator and game manager, still has a bit to
learn to be totally smooth on the technical side but is
improving pretty fast. He's clearly one of the ones they are
looking to bring onto the international panel over the next few
years and I am pleased to see it - I think it helps players to
have a ref who has played at a high level in the modern game.
Kyle seems to be settling in at Bristol - they made much better
use of him as a carrier and passer in this than in earlier
games. He was perhaps a bit lucky to get away with his outburst
- but on the other hand he had a point, even if it was marginal.
A short ban might be in order - not so much for the swearing but
for the fact it was directed at the ref.

I wasn't justifying Joe's swearing - I was just answering
someone else's question.
I thought that Joe's swearing was unacceptable - We was yelling
across the field. But, I think that it didn't constitute any
more than a telling off from the ref.
I think that the occasional swearword you hear when someone gets
hurt in the scrum or at the bottom of a ruck is okay though. I
have no issue with someone swearing when they get hurt. My Dad
(who was a joiner) always used to tell me that swearing when in
pain was a good way of dealing with it - e.g. when hitting your
thumb with a hammer. Actually though, he swore very rarely.

Even when he was with us I always thought Sinkler was a selfish,
as in look at me, player.
