COVID Points System

Newcastle and Bath awarded 4 points each after their Premiership
games were cancelled due to opposition COVID.
However Leicester and London Irish who had to isolate because of
the virus have been awarded 2 points each !
Having trouble getting my head around the fairness of this new
system.
Seems unfair that a team that that plays and gets beaten may get
nil points whilst those that don’t benefit.
Why not credit the non COVID side with 2 or 3 points and the
COVID affected team -1 point ?

A DoR could now claim Covid, get 2 points from a game when
ordinarily they'd have got nil points!!!
Cynical..Yes, possible..Yes!!
And team gets a week's extra rest...

So any games the coaches think we may end up getting nil points
we just have to claim that we've got covid somewhere at the

Not unreasonable to expect that they have to provide some
medical evidence.

Evidence not difficult to come by. All you have to do is put a
symptom into your NHS track and trace and it will provide you
with a message to self isolate for however many days it is at
the time. You then show this to your employer to get another
week off. So I’m told. Don’t look at me like that, I’m self
employed.

No idea how 4-2 was chosen as a points allocation - it can't be
achieved in a played game.

It can? Cant’t it?
Losing team must score 4 tries and finish within 7 = 2 pts.
Winning team must win without scoring four tries = 4 pts?
E.g
Losers = 4 tries = 20
Winners = 3 tries plus 2 pens = 21
Have I done the maths wrong? Or missed something?
I feel I have........

Actually, I think you're right, but the winning team would have
to have scored an awful lot of penalties and not many tries. It
just doesn't feel that likely, but could happen. I wonder when
it last did.

Possibly taking the six points that could be achieved in a four
try, seven or less points victory (assuming the oppo don't score
four tries) and re-distributing them?
It's not normal of course but then neither are Covid-cancelled
games.
