Dombrandt loss

Apparently according to article TRP he has lost 10 kilos (117
kgs) which Eddie told him to do and now reckons much fitter. In
touch with England mostly through John Mitchell and knows areas
he has to improve. I hope very selfishly we don’t loose him for
Six Nations.

Eddie seems to prefer a bosh based backrow currently. I don't
think there's a place for Alex in the current England setup.
Or Marcus.

I agree with T-B. After recent showings at least, I have
Simmonds and Barbeary (sp?) currently ahead of Dombrandt for any
England succession, sadly.

Dombrandt is an excellent player, but is far too much of a
maverick for Eddie Jones and its that which probably bar injury
crisis wont see him play for England.
Yesterday wouldn't of helped his cause, as its in my view Alex's
penalty contribution which cost us the game ultimately. Firstly
giving away a pen for 3 points and then in quick succession
another penalty which was a kick to touch, which then led to a
try, which then took the score to a unassailable/demoralising
0-17

I agree about the pens, he killed us yesterday early on. Not
what you want from your captain of all people

yesterday we lost for Dombrandt's mistakes?
And not because for them it was one training , we lost in every
phase of the game and if they be were serious they would have
scored 70 points etc ...
So if Dombrandt didn't make those initial fouls, would the game
have gone differently and you could even win? ahhhhh ok.
Dombrandt didn't play well yesterday, but at least he was one of
the few who tried to do something, even by creating disasters.

Alex Dombrandt is trying too hard at the moment ... whether it
is because he is trying to impress Eddie Jones ... whether it is
due to the increased responsibility of being captain lately ...
whether it is because he is still learning the No.8 role ...
possibly a combination of the 3 things
Apart from the penalties in the Munster & Racing games he has
cost us 2 try scoring opportunities at crucial times in recent
games through taking the wrong running lines ... firstly there
was the “try” for Luke Northmore against Exeter when he misread
the play and was guilty of crossing ... that would have brought
the score back to 12-5 (possibly 12-7) and Quins would have been
right back in the game ... that incident seemed to knock the
stuffing out of Quins and it all fell apart from there ...
secondly against Racing he failed to spot that Danny Care had
identified an overlap on the left which would probably have led
to a walk-in for Joe Marchant or Cadan Murley at a point in the
first half when Quins just needed some points on the board
Still got some way to go to prove he is the natural successor to
Nick Easter

We did not lose the game because of Dombrandt, his mates helped
him there. I do think his pens helped set the tone a little. We
would have lost anyway, but that does not mean you do all you
can to help the oppo out!! Thats a few daft pens from him
recently. He will sort it out and ive no doubt we will talking
about him in glowing terms again, but from a discipline point of
view, he has been a bit of a liability recently.
