Has left Gloucester with immediate effect. Would people take him
here as an alternative to Smith?

No. Two reasons:
1 We'd probably lose Smith
2 Cipriani can get into the headlines for the wrong reasons.

Assuming Cipriani will move to Japan or France but I’d be
tempted to take him on for the rest of the season as a back up
if he was willing and contracts could be worked out.

If we could afford him, yes please. He's a very good 10 and much
better than our alternatives to Smith.

While I can see the benefit of having a quality FH as back up,
this really doesn't fit in with the vision of having a young
team that Gussy has been talking about recently.
He does seem to be getting a group of young players bloodied so
that they can make a core of the team for years to come.

I know a number of fans on shedweb had been asking why he hadn't
played during their recent games. Now we know why

Not sure if he'd be happy with being a back up but if he is,
despite age and price tag, I'd take him until the end of the
season. If Smith goes down Quins are in trouble.

"I have decided to leave Gloucester with the love, support and
blessing of my coach and friend George Skivington".
This sentence simply jumped out of the page as being
disingenuous. A couple of weeks ago George Skivington dropped
Cipriani from the team. During a TV interview he confirmed that
certain players were not performing to their status and that no
one was 'to big to be dropped'. The conversation included
Cipriani by name. In another discussion there were pointed
references to certain players avoiding training and finding
excuses not to train, again Cipriani's name was mentioned.
Reading between the lines it looks as though Cipriani has been
sacked. Skivington is a new broom and perhaps he needs to make
it clear who is the boss.
Should we take Cipriani - no thanks. Way too much baggage and
the most important thing is to preserve harmony in the current
dressing room.

They've just announced Adam Hastings is joining them as of next
season.
