What was silly about the Care penalty is that he could have run
the guy off the ball in more subtle way. Angle the run so that
you keep running in a straight line which forces them out,
rather than such as obvious change of direction. The ball was
bouncing in the way Danny moved, so from that point of view it
would be fair enough for him to change his angle - you can't
expect players to keep their original line if the ball is
bouncing elsewhere - but he clearly wasn't looking at the ball.
I thought the Evans one was harsh - how can you be sure it was
deliberate? Or is that not relevant. Especially as it was the
       first offence.
The Dombrandt tackle was just silly. It doesn't really benefit
the team if it comes off but it very likely to result in a card.
I see no different being Marler leaving the shoulder in and
their player doing it to Brown. Both were marginally late and
with no use of the arms. They were really no arms tackles
though, just deliberately leaning in a bit late, should first.
Both deserved penalties, neither merited anything more, though
one did lead to a failed HIA.
Chisholm one I don't know the law so can't comment.

I think that with Chis, the situation is that as soon as the ref
thinks it is a penalty, then looking at the situation, then it
has to be a yellow card. I am not really sure on the
ins-and-outs of why it was a penalty though - but, as I
mentioned above, I think it happened during a Big Game.
I missed the Dombrandt one completely. I was doing a beer run
       at the time :-)

       going to come into contact.

Flatman thought the Evans card was a yellow every day of the
week but I agree it wasn't anywhere near as brainless as the two
       incidents I highlighted.
We will have to disagree over the Care incident which quite
simply never needed to have happened.

Are you referring to the Minty yellow in big game when the ball
rolled out of the tackle and he picked it up or did he kick it
,as he ran back. It was a case of was the ball out which was
argued about at the time. Academic as a penalty in front of the
posts was given. Can’t remember who it was against.
