Quins v Gloucester - Late 80s/Early 90s

Watching the incredible win at the weekend reminded me of one of
my favourite ever Quins games from the late 80s/early 90s... my
memory is a bit sketchy but recall we were playing Gloucester at
the Stoop and had 2 players sent off (think it was Mickey
Skinner and Richard Langhorn). Despite only having 13 men we won
the game late on with a Will Carling try.
Does anyone else remember the game and able to provide more
information?

That game is likely before my time.
But I do remember when Ace Tiatita got sent off after 30 odd
minutes in 2005 and we went on to win 38-9 having been on a 8
match losing streak before the game. Great win.

Amazing what you can find on the internet, fairly sure this is
the programme for the game that i'm thinking of...
HTML https://d2eq6t2r9q1quu.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/cms/9/920425.pdf
Final score was 21-18 to Quins.
And it was the last league of the season which meant Skinner and
Langhorn were suspended for the 1992 Pilkington Cup Final
against Bath.

I might be wrong but I remember that game, Langers and Skins
sent off towards the end and got suspended which meant missing
the following weekends PC Final against Bath when we had to pull
Ackford out of retirement because we had no cover at lock. I`ve
never forgiven Barnes for that drop goal in ET giving them an
undeserved win.

Thanks Quinze15. Yep... I realised about the Cup Final
suspension and edited my post at the same time as your comment.
I'd forgotten about Ackford coming out of retirement for the
game.
I was absolutely gutted when that drop goal went over. :(

Was this the sending off where Tiatia, having swung a punch and
connected, turned on his heel and was halfway off the pitch
before Sir had even managed to get the red card out of his
pocket. Happy days in the North Stand in my first or second full
year a Season Ticket holder and I remember how well we played
with 14 men. "Keogh!"

Yes - that's the one!
It was a great game because everyone expected the worst when the
card came out. But it was an excellent performance.

All the more galling was that Ackford had dominated the line out
all day, probably the only one he didn't win, then Barnes
scuffed his kick but it still crawled over.

I remember this because the PC final was my first ever Quins
game and I remember the news coming in of Skinner being banned.
Shaeasby came in to replace Skinner, and I remember Ackford
commenting on how much his waistline had expanded since his last
game. I was surrounded by Bath fans who were constantly singing
a song they'd made up about Mickey Skinner being sent off and
banned called "Night, night Mickey, because you got sent off".
I'll never forget it........ that and the dreaded Stuart Barnes
drop goal at the death of extra time. Ouch!

I sent the programme link to a friend of mine as I spotted his
name
He came back with the following Remember the game well
I went off after 20 mins with a neck injury .
I was placed on the changing room floor with an ice pack to
control any damage ( as we had the Pilkington cup final the
following Saturday ) .
After 5 mins lying there , I hear a tap tap of boot studs coming
down the corridor .
The door opens and in walks Mickey Skinner .
I said what are you doing here . Injured too ?
He’s says no I’ve been sent off for stamping !
Then two minutes later we both hear another set of boot studs
come tap tap tapping down the corridor - the changing room door
opens and in comes Richard Langhorne .
We both say what are you doing Lamgers
He says I’ve been sent off for Stamping too !
So we play the next 50 mins with 13 men against Gloucester -
play like demons and beat them by 20 clear points .
Skins and langers banned from playing in final and Paul Ackford
comes out of retirement to play in. Second Row with me against
Bath the following week .
We lose the final with
The last kick of extra time - a drop goal from Stuart Barnes
from the only line out we lost on our throw all game .
Sick as a parrot as found out a few years later Barnes did not
drop the goal but punted the ball over which the ref never
picked up on ☹️
