"Premium ticket" offer
DIR By: Kermitpower

I didn't really pay too much attention to this when I first saw
it, but now that we know there is a 2,000 capacity limit, I'm
seeing it in a rather different light!

Having fortunately not been too badly impacted by Covid, I was
happy enough to let the club keep my money for games missed last
season, but it would appear that for this year, despite over
7,000 of us having renewed our memberships, the club is planning
on rewarding our loyalty by selling a portion of those 2,000
seats at a slightly inflated price to non-members. >:(
If they've somehow figured out a way to add box capacities on
top of the 2,000 then I'm all for it, as the more money coming
into the club the better, but if this is just going to reduce my
chances of actually getting tickets out of the ballot, then I've
already emailed them to say I'll be claiming every missed match
this season back as cash, and will also be expecting a portion
of the Rosebine parking pass back as well!

I would have thought that anybody prepared to fork out £70 (and
that’s only for a Cat C match, probably nearer £100 for Cat A),
also having to find five like minded mates, as I don’t think the
club would let a hospitality box go to a party of less than six,
would already be one of the 7000+.

I have already queried this on another post in relation to
Munster supporters. If Taking from 2000 and there are season
ticket holders unable to get seats I know Club needs cash but
they have paid for the whole season and in some cases donated
last season. If in addition I would have no problem. But not
from 2000.

just dont agree with it frankly, if you have found a way for
more fans over the 2k then reward your season ticket holders who
have paid the money up front and aren't asking for it back yet &
still hoping to see games. If it's taking slots out of the 2k
then it is just wrong, I know the club needs cash but they need
less of it because of the fans loyalty. My thought process has
always been not to ask for the cash back now and put it towards
other cup tickets (ever hopeful) or next season so the club
don't have to refund me now but can keep hold and use next year.
If they are selling a portion of tickets to the highest bidders
as such then fine but what ever tickets I don't get in the
ballot I'll have the cash back thank you.

Unless I have missed something its a flat 2000, so any boxes
come out of that.
Think its pretty bad form by the club to be honest but its a
business and further reinforces my view that your only a number
anyway even after 25+ years as a season ticket holder.....

The club did say this in the ballot email, and I assume it would
only be possible to link friends and family if they were STHs
but I think it only applies to people sitting together, not to
premium tickets

of your social bubble, but if you wish to sit together you MUST
enter the ballot in the same transaction. Therefore the Lead
Booker must have updated your ticketing account to list those in
your group as your ‘Friends & Family’. See the step-by-step
guide here. Before applying for the ballot, please refer to
Government Guidelines for your area and adhere to covid-19
regulations.

The thing that irked me most was that they're not really
charging much of a premium! I get that they usually make a lot
more out of hospitality, so if they were keeping back say 2-300
of the 2,000 to flog off at £400 per head with free beer and
lunch or whatever, I'd actually have less of an issue with it,
as that would be a significant wodge of extra cash for the club
which in current circumstances I wouldn't begrudge them. It's
the notion that they're going to make maybe an extra £20-30 per
ticket but only if we don't then claim the cash back if we can't
go that's taking the mick.

I understand that thought process if it was such a high price
and a package but if it's out of the 2000 I still just think
it's wrong, if the season ticket holders hadn't paid up front
with a chance of say 1 in 3 games to watch, the club would be so
much worse off. Surely you want those season ticket holders not
to ask for money back as cash flow would drop significantly, so
treat them well and give them all the best possible chance of a
seat. You risk alienating some of that good will by doing those
sorts of things. I gave the club the balance on my ecard and let
them keep my season ticket cash last season as I think did a lot
of people, we did that because we want to club to keep going and
wanted to help, if you start feeling you are just a number as
mentioned above that's when you stop doing those sorts of
things, I know it's a small thing in comparison but for such a
small gain why alienate your key revenue providers.

It's not even a small thing though! If let's say even 500
members demand back the cash instead of leaving it with the
club, that's going to dwarf any extra revenue they make out of
these Premium tickets.

The club really need to clarify this before the carpark is full
of people with pitchforks and brandishing fire. I was very upset
and shared the same thoughts as the posters above and will be
mighty peed off if I don't get tickets but some casual rugby
support takes my ticket.
The club need to nip this in the bud before it really escalates
into full scale revolt.
