Is also our primary tactic, sadly.

Horrible, negative tactic. At least when sarries and England do
it they're good at it

It's not about dropping the catch, which will only happen every
now and then. It's about not playing with the ball in your own
half under defensive pressure and instead putting the opposition
under defensive pressure in their half.
Marcus Smith's low kicks trying to find gaps were awful, because
they went straight to players who then had acres of space to run
into, and he kept trying and failing to do them. I doubt he'll
play that poorly again, it was very out of character.

Just watched the Wasps v Bristol game. Neither team kicked the
ball away. Both teams kept the ball in hand and recycled or
offloaded it to create spaces and mismatches. The Bristol No 9
was excellent in finding gaps through quick play.
It was good rugby and it was refreshing to see the ball going
through hands. In many respects I could see a style of play
reminiscent of Quins from about 5 seasons ago.

It’s meant to be so as not to play the game in your own half
That being said we tend to kick straight into a waiting
speedsters arms who runs in straight back into our half
Wasn’t it Einstein who said the mark of an idiot is trying the
same thing over and over but expecting a different result

Kicking game is a very good tactic.
Issue we have is our kicking is not spot on enough or chase poor
or when in oppo half attack is not accurate enough.
Tactics are spot on and best teams kick a lot!

No, but he did direct 'Battleship Potemkin'.

...and the better teams employ a range of tactics. Tactical
kicking to gain ground, the occasional up and under and having
the skills to pass the ball through hands after repetitive
recycling. We saw that today in the Bristol/Wasps game.
Poor teams limit their game to one tactic, such as kicking the
ball away, as a means of obscuring their limited attacking and
handling skills. Quins is such a team right now. Eventually
the effort of repeated defensive sets took its toll as players
tired physically and psychologically.
Still. in perspective it was only one game and perhaps Gustard
was looking to get the foundations of the defence in place
before developing a more expansive game. We live in hope.
