HARLEQUINS SIGN WILL EDWARDS ON SHORT-TERM DEAL

FORMER ENGLAND SEVENS PLAYER WILL EDWARDS SIGNS FOR HARLEQUINS
ON SHORT-TERM DEAL
Harlequins is delighted to announce that former England Sevens
player Will Edwards has signed a three-month deal with the South
West London club.
Edwards, 25, joins Harlequins on a short-term deal having linked
up with the squad during pre-season on a trial basis, adding
further depth at fly-half alongside Marcus Smith, Brett Herron
and James Lang.
Debuting for England Sevens in 2017 during the HSBC World Rugby
Sevens Series in Vancouver, Edwards has this week been included
in the Club’s Heineken Champions Cup squad, as Quins prep for a
first European trip away to Munster next month.
Commenting on his short-term deal, Edwards said: “I’m really
excited by the opportunity to join Quins for the next few
months. From the time I came in the boys have been very
welcoming and made it a great environment. I’m looking forward
to working with some of the best in the business, it will be a
great experience for my rugby career, and I can’t wait to get
stuck in!”
Commenting on Edwards' arrival, Head of Rugby Paul Gustard said:
“We are looking forward to seeing if Will can translate his
Sevens form and ability into the 15's game. I have known about
Will for coming on 10 years. He has a great core skill set, as
one would expect from playing elite sevens for so long, with
aplomb, allied to genuine pace and lovely footwork.
“With Brett [Herron] requiring a tidy-up on his knee and James
[Lang] away with Scotland we are left vulnerable at fly-half,
which is where we see Will's optimal position.
“Will is a great kid, very coachable and has incredibly
resilient through his years of playing international sport on
the road.
“I am sure as always our fans will be excited to see what Will
can do and will be looking at the plethora of YouTube wonder
tries and tackles he has made!

He is obviously needed with Herron injured and Lang with
Scotland
who steps in if Marcus takes a knock tomorrow evening? Danny ?

Looks like seriously raw talent, especially at Fly half.
However, he has got an eye for a gap and pace. Will be
interesting to see if he can develop into a player that can have
a balanced game.
Looks like a prospect, like he is a bit spiky too, happy to get
involved over the ball and fight for turnovers too.

Green and Tapuai have both played 10 before. Tapuai covered
there for Bath

Esterhuzien can play full back and fly half at a push. Green can
play there too.

Agreed. Some of his running - particularly the hitch kick
reminds me quite a bit of Marcus.
