Why are Monye, Sinckler and Ibitoye only described as ‘loosely
homegrown’?
Plenty of players not mentioned too. Marchant and JTH being two
pretty obvious and current/recent examples.

Because it's The Rugby Paper and they probably knocked this up
in ten minutes in between the next article praising Saracens.

Great 7's player. I remember Everton Davis too.

Harriman led England to win the inaugral RWC 7s in 93. The RFU
couldn't have cared less about the game and sent a no hope side
(Like the Monty Python Contractual Obligation Album). Harriman
said of it 'we were a scratch side who hadn't played together
before, an unknown quantity even to ourselves'.

Team (not in order): A Harriman (Harlequins, capt), A Adebayo
(Bath), N Beal (Northampton), D Scully (Wakefield); T Rodber

Replacement: J Cassell (Saracens) for Rodber, 17.
To see Harriman run was like watching a giraffe run, I always
thought. You get lost watching the grace of the legs running
that you don't realise how fast he's actually moving. He'd often
find an excuse to get out of training on Thursday and then just
turn up for the game on the Saturday.

Loved it when the great Campese showed him the outside, Harriman
took it, and Campese never laid so much as a finger nail on him.

Another badly researched article from Gallagher. I would expect
more from the writer of the club's official 150th publication
but then again, he never mentioned in that most of those named
in this one so I can't say I'm surprised!
A few observations from me
Eddie Quist-Arcton actually made his debut in 1980
Tikoisuva and Woodward never formed a midfield partnership (even
if you expanded that to say it was a 10/12/13 axis, it only
happened 8 times)
He spells Everton Davis's name wrong
Everton Weekes - although a fantastic back row man, he was never
a winger. He came on as a sub in one game in 1979 and ended up
on the wing - it went pretty well. He was actually picked on the
wing the following week - that didn't go so well and that was
the end of that. He didn't play in any of the Middlesex 7s
winning teams between 1986 and 1990.
The 1988 victory was in the John Player Special Cup, not the
John Player Trophy.
Mr Gallagher, if you are going to keep writing these articles,
please get your facts right and stop creating wrong
information!! By all means, get in touch if you want your facts
checked ;)
