Agree.
Basically they chose relegation!

Well if they chose relegation and it effectively doesn't happen
then there should be the full audit of their books if they want
to stay in the prem.

Exactly. They've never come clean. Just accepted punishment for
the public stuff that was discovered.

I was surprised and worried that DC Ugo and Chris thought that
it was wrong that Salarycens were relegated. It is wrong for the
Premiership and rugby now that it might be for two seasons and
affect all their players even more.DC said he would rather
they’d had all the titles they won taken away. However there
seems to have been some kind of deal done that Salarycens have
accepted but in hindsight has done for them. Of course if they
hadn’t cheated for so long or so much they wouldn’t be in this
position would they.

You might have some sympathy for this view IF anybody at
Saracens actually acknowledged that they might have done
something wrong.

I can completely understand players being more interested in
unfairly won titles being stripped and the squad being made
legal than a team being relegated and keeping their titles.
Players have odd motivations, plus I'm reasonably sure those
guys would be sympathetic towards Saracens players having to
deal with relegation through no real fault of their own.

Jammy you are too kind. Were they too just following orders?
Having 10 Internationals on the sidelines must have made one or
two of them wonder, or did they think that everybody was there
on cut price money for the sheer joy of being a Saracen player?

Agents and coaches can be pretty persuasive I think. Plus I'm
not sure that many pro sportsmen are that bright! But you're
right, at least some of them should've known. And the guys
getting deals on the side have no excuse.

I’d be very happy to see Salaries stay down for a couple of
years plus, and be forced to shed some of their superstars that
we keep being told are only there for the love of the club and
‘special’ culture (definitely not because they were earning
hundreds of grand more off the books!)
However, reality check:
The prem and most of the clubs are in dire straits and facing an
uncertain future. The financial case for allowing Salaries and
Nigel ‘deep pockets’ Wray back into the Prem ASAP will only grow
over the next 6Mths, and there’s a sad inevitability to them
bouncing back up mostly unscathed in 21/22, even if the Champ
doesn’t go ahead.
Meantime, pundits like Ugo and senior players like DC all have a
vested interest in seeing the wage inflation that Sarries kicked
off a few years ago continue, because it impacts what they and
their mates earn. Sustainability is not their concern. Look at
what happened with the RPA and the 25% COVID salary
cut....turkeys don’t vote for Xmas and rugby players (current
and recently retired) ain’t going to be voting for a more
sustainable, leaner salary cap for the Prem.
Rugby in general and the Prem particularly badly need more
independent voices involved because all we hear are the views of
vested interests and old boys, be they players, the prem, the
RFU, journos or pundits.....hence why Salaries’s behaviour and
the outraged feelings of fans of the other 12clubs have largely
been played down and dismissed, and ‘the media’ are wetting
themselves at the exciting prospect of a ‘Phoenix from the
flames’ Salaries comeback next year.

If I'm a pro rugby player, it's my responsibility to worry about
my salary, not anybody else's! I feel for some of the players
but the club itself (owners, former owners, money men, financial
bods) deserves everything it gets.
