Looks like a very selfish thing to do.
They would rather let all the other clubs in that league go bust
than stay another year in it. It would help them get some credit
back if there wasn't any rugby for them next season to stay
there and earn the right for promotion.
I also think most clubs, if not all, would do the same mind!

I really can't see the championship going ahead if it's not
financially viable, clubs are already strapped for clubs (apart
from Saracens). I wouldn't be surprised it will end up with the
Premiership being ringfenced with Saracens keeping their place.

That club really does have zero self-awareness. Or maybe I give
them too much credit. Perhaps they do but just don't care.
Either way, I hope they stay there and the remainder of the
cheat squad disperse amongst the wider premiership.

Perhaps they'll increase Premiership to 14 sides (matching
Pro/Top 14s) but also "soft" ring-fence them - top 8 in each go
to expanded Champions Cup and bottom 6 from each plus 6 clubs
from next tier of rugby outside these leagues (Spanish,
Portuguese, Russian, Romanian, Georgian etc) for Challenge Cup.
Soft ring fence would require home & away play off between
bottom club and winner of the Championship.
Not only will this give other European sides a chance (of going
out early), but they'll be able to keep Sarries and another team
from Championship without it looking like a fix...

By all accounts, the season after next is looking like there
could be a Pro16 if the rumours about the SA teams joining on
mass are right.

Surely they are just trying to generate public support ahead of
time, with soft-hearted journalists like those at The Times
taking their side in a PR campagin code-named "Poor Saracens."

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. They played a stupid game
with the salary cap, and won a season in the Championship as a
result. That's the way it goes: oh dear, how sad, never mind.
To start bleating about having lawyers involved is breathtaking
arrogance. They don't seem to appreciate that there is a
pandemic going on that, as yet, no-one can control, and that it
is more important than any single club that we get past that. If
it means another year in the Championship as a result, tough
luck. If they hadn't played stupid games, they would not be in
this position in the first place. They had a chance to come
clean sooner, and they chose not to do so.

The irony of this is that the only reason Salarycens are going
down rather than Leicester is that — correct me if I'm wrong on
this — they refused to open their current books to scrutiny and
accepted a bigger points penalty instead, as a consequence.
