I'd consider it because I'm in a position to but I wouldn't be
giving them amounts that would make much difference I wouldn't
have thought.
The club did the bond issue in 2016 and in the end it raised
£3.8m of the hoped £7.5m. The interest rate on that was 5.5% and
it's due to 'mature' in June 2021. I'd consider leaving it with
them for longer at a reduced rate of interest (given how low
rates have further plunged!).
In teems of return beyond some modest interest - I'd like a trip
to see the training at SSP - that was good fun a few years back
and that's about it really.

I was surprised that there were no rugby benefits associated
with the bond. I went to a bondholders meeting a few years ago
and chatted to someone who claimed that he had invested purely
for the high return. He'd never seen Quins play! To this day,
I'm not sure if he was winding me up.

The soft benefits started quite well. We had a visit to SSP for
a training day which Graham Bowerbank led and it was excellent.
Had sessions watching the drills, autographs and pictures, a
chat with JK, tour of the facilities, lunch, session with the
video analysis team and a tour of the gym. We also had 6 nations
sessions with Marler, Visser and Burford one year and Sinck and
Shaunagh Brown another. A post Lions session with Sinck too. I
missed the one with PG when he joined unfortunately. They then
sort of died out and we haven't had much for a year. In terms of
day to day match attendance benefits - nah not much.

Agreed on the bolded section. I believe van Dyk, Thomas and
Stafford are all short term deals until the end of this season.
Northmore has done enough to suggest he has the ability to be a
decent Premiership player so I think we could let Campagnaro and
Tapuai go without really noticing. Even with Green arriving,
we’re still a bit light in the back three so I’d keep Chisholm
for now.
I wouldn’t be too fussed if we let Elia go. With Gray back to
his old self, Baldwin, Musk, Head and Riley, we can probably
afford to lose somebody and I’d sooner invest in younger talent
from the academy.

IF(?) the board have put plans for a new stadium on hold for 3
or 5 years then they could consider bringing back 3 or 5 year
debenture and possibly season ticket packages. Everything
reverted to single year planning when the new stadium looked a
possibility.
(The bond wasn't overly attractive as you sat way down the food
chain in the event of financial challenges)

As we are not in this alone maybe part of the solution is
reducing the Salary Cap for the foreseeable future. Moneybags
Owners may well be tempted to continue spending right up to the
current cap when other Clubs simply may not be able to afford to
do so?
