Options for Quins to sustain as a going endeavour

Setting aside the approach to handling Covid, which is
dominating other discussions, the current situation is this:
1. There are no crowds likely for the next 3-6 months
2. Once crowds are allowed, then in the short to medium term
they will be at a reduced level
What are the options for Quins to keep going? Wage cuts? Squad
reduction? The owners to dig into their pockets? Rights issues?
Debentures? Alternative funding models?

Initially it seems the Owners (and Sponsors) are being very
supportive, which is great. Wage cuts are a big possibility I
would guess, followed on by squad reductions (Players OOC are
simply not replaced). I guess much will depend on how much the
owners are prepared (or able) to bail us out. I know it has ben
touched on elsewhere, so Im not dragging it up here for
discussion, but the obvious one would be fans being allowed back
in, even in reduced numbers. Would make a huge difference.

And how much the owners etc are willing to bail the clubs out
will vary substantially. Otherwise much cost cutting is the only
way forward that I can see for now.

Thats the thing. I would guess there are owners that can and
are willing, Owners that cant but would be willing, and owners
that can but are not willing. Hopefully our owners can and
will. As said above, early indications were positive (like the
news that we were one of the sides whose players should be very
grateful to the owners). I think it was Us, Sarries, Bath,
Bristol, Saints and Sale??

help, would anyone consider it, and what would you expect in

I would, in a heartbeat. I dont want to come across in a "Im
better Quins fan than you" kind of way, thats not my intention,
I just love the club and want it to survive in the healthiest
way possible.
In return, nothing, except total domination of English rugby for
the next 10 years, and maybe a game from the bench.

We have already done a bond issue relatively recently haven't
we? I don't really understand these things but I'm led to
believe that it wasn't very attractive and the take-up wasn't
very good.
I'm not sure how reducing squad sizes can work without a
reduction in fixtures. You can use academy players to plug some
gaps, but there's a limited number of them, some might not be
physically ready and they might not play in the positions we
need to fill.
Some players will need to be flexible. There's talk on another
thread of Elia as a backrow. Not sure who else could cover
multiple positions.
Sadly the community roles will probably be scrapped. I'm not
sure what we or other clubs spend on the womens teams but they
might be under threat

I think the salary cap for the womens competition is 1/10th what
the mens is, from what I saw on twitter yesterday.

Re the squad, taking the current squad now, no offence to the
players mentioned but you could drop Van Wyk, A Hooker,
Campagnaro, Tapuai and R Chisholm without it killing us too
much.
Womens teams I expect will be largely unaffected. They are all
amateur (Except for the internationals, and the nations cover
that). I think there is a cap spend limit of 60k this season
for the women. This covers stuff like assistance for living
accommodation etc. Apart from the Head Coach, I think the rest
of the coaches etc are pretty much part time. In the grand
scheme of things the outlay is minimal

Harlequins and Saracens have led the league since it began in
2017, with the majority of England's contracted women's players
playing for the two. Now clubs must keep to a cap of £60,000 per
squad and that includes match fees, accommodation and benefits
like cars

When the pubs re-opened I expected them to open the Kings bar
and try and get people down maybe the cost of opening it was
more than tge money they would bring in.
