       PREMIERSHIP FIXTURES ANNOUNCED
       Tuesday, 29th September 2020 @ 11:00
NEVER MISS A GAME! YOU CAN SYNC YOUR FIXTURES TO YOUR DEVICE AND
ANY RESCHEDULED GAMES WILL UPDATE AUTOMATICALLY
Harlequins will kick off the 2020/21 Gallagher Premiership when
       they host Exeter Chiefs.
The match, scheduled for 7.45pm on Friday 20 November, will be
screened on BT Sport and is the first of the new campaign.
Paul Gustard's men then travel to Northampton Saints the
following week before appearing on the BT Sport cameras over
       four successive weekends.
After a trip to Gloucester, Harlequins host Bristol Bears on
Boxing Day before a visit to Worcester Warriors and a home clash
with London Irish conclude the first six rounds of games.
Round seven onwards, which are subject to movement due to TV
scheduling, are still to be confirmed.
       Champions Cup and Premiership Cup
The Premiership Cup will be back next season with our matches
commencing in Spring. Fixture details will be released by
Premiership Rugby and shared with supporters as soon as
       available.
Our Heineken Champions Cup fixtures will be shared once released
by European Professional Club Rugby, following the draw.
Never miss a game - sync your device!
You can keep up to date with all of the fixtures by syncing your
device. You won't miss a game! When a match changes date your
       calendar will update automatically.
       Big Game 13
Given the uncertainty of supporters being able to attend live
sporting events in the short term, Harlequins have moved the
traditional festive Big Game at Twickenham Stadium in 2020/21 to
       a provisional date in Spring.
Our intention is to go ahead with this hugely popular community
event which is the biggest game of club rugby in the world.
While we know the festive annual fixture is a highly anticipated
event as families come together to attend, we want to ensure the
best chance of the event going ahead with a packed Twickenham
       Stadium.
We will share further details in the coming months as the
COVID-19 regulations and ability to attend live sporting events
       are clarified.
       Supporters returning
The recent announcement from the government that there may be no
change to COVID-19 restrictions in the next six months has
raised questions around when we can expect supporters back at
       The Stoop.
There are many open questions at this point and Premiership
Rugby and Harlequins are working with the relevant authorities
to better understand the regulations and determine what impact
this will have on the 2020/21 season.
We will share further details in the next few days and weeks as
this information becomes clear and ensure a clear overview and
set of details for our Season Ticket Members in October, well
ahead of the season starting on 20th November.

That basically knocks on the head any idea that Sarries could
end up playing in the Prem next season. There's no way to
include a 13th team in the schedules and Newcastle will rightly
fight any attempt to be "un-promoted" tooth & nail.
Any player in a 6 Nations squad will probably miss 11 of the
first 14 games, as the first three rounds clash with the autumn
international fixtures, and rounds 7-14 overlap with the 2021 6
       Nations period.
Plus, it looks like it'll be either Wasps or Bath for Big Game
if it goes ahead. The earliest Spring game that could be used is
the Worcester one in April, but that might not be the target
because i) It's close to the end of the nominal 6 months of fan
restrictions and ii) Warriors aren't as big a draw for the
neutral as Wasps or Bath would be.

11 out of 14 games, ouch. That could help us tbh, as apart from
Marler, im not sure anyone else will get the call from Jones.
Not sure Marchant, Smith or Dombrandt will get the nod. Anyone
know when the squad is announced??

Worcester, away on New Year's Day, at 7:45pm?
Gloucester away on a Sunday with a 4:15pm kickoff?
I mean, I know spectators can't go so it's not like we would be
hiking westward, but those are really odd times to be playing.
All hail the TV schedules, I suppose.

I'm guessing Lang might be in the Scotland squad? If Smith was
called up that could leave us short at FH.

I thought the Premiership Cup had been scrapped for this season?

Good point! Maybe they're combining it with the Shield (A League
as was) to be a proper "development" side competition.
       EDIT
I've just looked on the Premiership press release, and this is
       what they say:
       --- Quote ---
       > The Premiership Rugby Cup will be staged as a midweek
competition in the 2020-21 season, starting after the Six
Nations, with matches live on BT Sport.
       --- End Quote ---

Particularly insensitive timing from Premiership Rugby to
announce next season’s fixtures just as this season is (finally)
       drawing to a close
At a time when everyone’s physical and mental wellbeing is being
scrutinised and (supposedly) prioritised just imagine the mental
impact of this announcement for the players who are coming to
the end of what effectively has been a 14-month season ... just
a couple of weeks rest to look forward to and then back into
pre-season at a time when you have probably had to take a
       significant pay cut
The front page headline in The Rugby Paper last Sunday was “Top
flight rugby may not return until 2021” and the article states “
... an increasing number of clubs are reaching the conclusion
that starting next season on November 20 may not be a viable
       proposition”
Clearly it was a political decision by Premiership Rugby to
publish the fixtures now to emphasise that they are in charge
... NOT the clubs ... no wonder there has been a backlash
