Training ground is at Surrey sports park in Guildford. It’s
owned by the university of surrey.

Couple of thoughts...Our owners may eventually decide to sell or
develop The Stoop. It is a prime piece of West London real
estate worth literally £millions. Currently I can't see anyone
wanting to buy a loss making sports club without also looking at
developing all or part of The Stoop. This probably means that
Quins Rugby has to downsize and relocate possibly to a rented
ground somewhere. What the ramifications will be for our
standing in the game is unclear but the truth is that we are not
alone so anything is possible. Until fans are allowed back in
substantial numbers Rugby may have to just mothball as best it
can and pray.
I would certainly think long and hard before renewing my ST's
for non top tier Rugby but I am prepared to wait and see out of
loyalty.

Well who knows? Money men are not known for their endless
generosity generally.

Wasn't there a plan to build a new stadium locally?

that the government could make loans to all rugby/
football/hockey /cricket etc clubs payable back over a long
period of 20 years or so. It could work a bit like a student’s
university fee system. This is all levels from professional to
local club .

I do love the talk about ‘theGovernement’s money’ ! There is no
such thing as Government money it is tax payers money that is
you and me and no way would I want to lend money to every sports
club in the country. We are working to keep our local club,
charities afloat plus of course Quins that is enough for me....
there has to be a limit. If you have your own ground that is a
huge advantage, but most council grounds are not taking rent.

I wondered if it was a vanity project. I heard that it was
dependant on acquiring the Council depot

I would imagine there would be a lot of people who would find
the government supporting commercial sport distasteful while
there are people struggling to pay for food and housing. Still,
it may not be on the table:

It's hardly surprising that "it's all gone quiet" about the
redevelopment. We're in the middle of a pandemic! All sorts of
plans across multiple sports/businesses will have been put on
hold because of the changed circumstances, and the redevelopment
is one. As for it being a "vanity project", it was more with a
view as to how to increase revenue for the club, especially on
non-match days. If the club is to be sustainably & consistently
profitable it needs to have facilities that lend themselves to
non-rugby use that they can market.

Do you not think anybody who works in sport is in this position.
