I'm not even mad at Foley. Yes he had a bit of a stinker but we
benefitted early on from that and had a few lucky calls go our
way.
Our substitutions lost us that game. Needlessly took off several
top performers (that regularly play a full 80).
On the plus side, it's the dog mess cup and in 2 years time
nobody will remember who won it in 2020 anyway!

Arrrgghhh! Gutted!
I hope we learn from that. We have played some smart rugby in
the last couple of games and did so for the majority today.
Danny was very gracious and said some kind words about Robshaw;
which makes the defeat a bit more poignant.
In time, our group of leaders in their young twenties will use
this a springboard for success. Smith, Chisholm, Marchant,
Dombrandt and Evans will use this.

Marchant and Earle anonymous. Shows how little we tried to play
second half. That's fine if you have the discipline and
composure of sarries

Marchant's attacking game has disappeared since his NZ jaunt.
Defensively better though.
Having our fourth choice tyro 12 (who has mostly played 13
before now) didn't help that either.

A lot of very harsh criticism here.
We lost to a team that are several places above in the league.
Even if they weren’t playing theIr strongest starting line up,
their bench was far stronger than ours.
I was fairly pleased with the way we played from about 10-60.
Either side of that we were poor and Sale’s better bench told.
Esterhuizen’s penalty was dumb, but the guy’s barely played any
rugby in months. Let’s cut him a bit of slack until he’s
settled.
In short, we played OK and we lost. It’s the Mickey Mouse Cup
anyway ...
A few people need to calm down.

Tough one, could have, should have, but ultimately let them off
the hook. Was it eight South Africans? How is Tom Foley better
than JP..??

On giving Esterhuizen a break - I actually agree. We should've
started him by now, same with Louw, because these guys need to
get up to speed with the current laws and it's easier to do that
at the beginning of a game when the ref is still making it clear
what he expects.
We were pretty good for a while against a superior team on paper
but too many poor decisions cost us in the end. I cannot justify
the Smith substitution - it'd be bad enough if we were replacing
him with an actual flyhalf, let alone the guy who's only looked
decent at 13.

He's not better, JP was worse. But Pearce is way better.
