Far less frequently these days, though - and mostly in
connection with Sarries (and sometimes Quins players'
involvement in uncovering the salary cap breach).
It strikes me that at the end of this season there will only be
a tiny number of people left at the club who were even there
when it happened, and no-one who was implicated in it. Off the
top of my head, NEv, Care, Brown, Marler... and that's about it.
No-one in the coaching staff of the time, none of the players
involved, no-one in management.
And yet the label lingers.
Meanwhile, for all that they've shed a few players, most of the
people involved at Saracens are still involved and will still be
involved when they inevitably return to the Premiership.
Meanwhile, the commentators seem happy to brush it under the
carpet.
Double standards, much?

'Bloodgate' captures the public imagination far more easily than
systematic financial doping, despite the latter being far more
damaging to the game in my opinion.

Sarries were cheating, the git caught and have been punished.
They won yesterday with a group of players who have been abused
by the club and they are not to blame.
Nigel Wray was the main organiser and he has been punished most
with the fine.
I feel for the players as it must have been a awful situation to
be involved in.
I get the feeling that they could win the cup. A final against
Exeter would be a spicy a fair!
Move on and blame PRL as much as Sarries, they were not
enforcing the cap properly and are to blame as well as the
senior management of Sarries.

agree with you KentQuin although Bloodgate was far more damaging
to the reputations / careers of certain individuals, I am
talking about the Doctor and the Physio.

Thus not a cheating team. Two things, They qualified with a
cheat team. Up and till now have played in the current
competition with a cheat team. I don’t know why they are still
playing in any competition and affecting other clubs futures.

Incredible that they can be missing "9 top players" and still
put out a side with no weak links, packed with Lions Test stars,
a world cup winner, multiple other internationals, and guys with
100s of Saracens appearances.
It's almost like their squad is full of amazing players somehow.
Not sure how. Maybe someone should investigate.

The other thing I find hard to understand is other clubs taking
their players on loan for a season.
Why would you help an opponent who cheated you!

And unless you are getting a staggeringly good financial deal
(which presumably you're not, otherwise Sarries wouldn;t be
offloading their excess costs) why would you want to have a key
player for just one "guest" season?

Because the clubs remove the emotion out of the situation.

I hate to belabour the point but Saracens have refused to come
clean about the scale of their cheating and instead chose
relegation. They're still at it, and we'll never know the full
scale of their organised and sustained cheating. They have not
been properly punished.

By taking their players on loan they're basically condoning it!
