Agreed, ive got no doubt (and am sure the club confirmed) that
we spend up to the cap, but I was talking more in regards to the
back up to the internationals/first 15. Im not sure the quality
is there. I think currently we may be trying to spread the cap
too far over the squad. At SH we have Care, I would then rather
get rid of Lewis and Mulchrone and bring in 1 quality SH cover.
We then have Saunders and Waters to step up. Both of whom look
good players to me.

Set me thinking about the old chestnut of Club v Country. You
can see a Prem DOR wanting international standard players that
are not playing for their countries during our season. You
obviously want International Honours possible for your aspiring
players to help drive them to improve but you don't then want to
lose them for big chunks of your season. To me, there is an
argument for increasing the Salary Cup in accordance with number
of EQP's you have or are likely to have, so you can buy in
cover.

Fine until the player is dropped and you have to release another
player due to the reduced cap.

Based on Lang's occasional cameo at 10 and Smith's run of games?
I hope I'm really badly wrong about Lang but I really think he's
being massively overrated here.

Do we know how many of our signings are for injury cover thus
not count in the cap.

Based on Lang's experience not just with us but with RGC, on
loan to Esher, and with Scotland, his better kicking (at least
in my view), and his physicality. He's played a lot more
non-age group rugby than Smith has. He may not be the mercurial
talent that Smith is, but he can certainly steer a game well.
Remember he was at 10 for the majority of the game against
Sarries.

Very useful thread, thank you, and I like the colours.
Very hard to rank players in some positions, and some players
are hard to pigeonhole in one position, especially back row.
We do have a very large squad now but there are a few in there
who I can;t get that excited about. No longer the highest EQP %
either.
