Robbo and the 300-cap milestone
DIR By: Spug

Can somebody give a definitive answer to how many Quins caps
Chris Robshaw is currently on, please?
I remember noticing during the break that he was on 292 with
nine league games remaining, meaning he would need to play in
all but one (or two if he played in the Prem Cup final) in order
to reach 300, which seemed a big ask with midweek games in the
mix and the uncertainty at the time over the final.
The team announcement for the Sale game listed him as being on
292
HTML https://www.quins.co.uk/news/harlequins-name-squad-to-face-sale-sharks-as-the-gallagher-premiership-returns<br
/>and he was on 294 three games later before the Northampton
game
(

/>having missed the debacle at Worcester.
So far, so good.
But then having played against Northampton he was next down as
having played 296 games before Bath
HTML https://www.quins.co.uk/news/harlequins-name-side-to-take-on-bath-rugby-as-landmark-match-sees-return-of-supporters,<br
/>and now he's down as having played 298 games before the Irish
game

Maybe this only matters to anoraks like me but I seem to
remember there was a similar bit of jiggery pokery going on
around Brownie's 300th cap, which seemed to be engineered for a
convenient home game.
In the grand scheme of things it doesn't mean much as Robbo will
still forever be remembered as one of our all-time greats
regardless of how many caps he gets to but it would be nice if
he could get to 300 with them being counted properly!
Or is that they have finally started giving him credit for the
appearances by his twin?

It looks like your last sentence is the answer
HTML https://www.quins.co.uk/team/players/chris-robshaw/2019-20/
He is showing twice in the last 2 games.
Appears to be the case for all the players in last 2 games, i
also looked at Ashton and Brown

I asked the same question of the Club's statistician, who said
that, including the Bath match, Robbo has played 296 games.

Unfortunately the Club stats have been engineered for years and
players like Easter and Monye's were altered to ensure the
landmark was achieved when it suited.
Chris has played over 300 games already because he appeared in
friendlies before the decision was made by Conor O'Shea not to
include them from the start of 2011/12.
The way I look at it is if you start manipulating figures to
suit, they are meaningless.
ScottyQuin - Who is the club statistician now?

Good to see you back RleQ!
Just for reference - from your point of view (which I think is
generally the most accurate)
How many caps does he have?
