We’ve had a “3-5 year plan” for about 7 years now, the
transition argument really isn’t a good one now considering
other sides in their “transition” phase have improved. The real
thing to take away is when we’ve entered the new phases, so for
JKs reign and now Gustard, is they both have been underwhelming
without a clear improvement to suggest it’s a work in progress
but things will be better, as we have said the same things for
years on what’s wrong. I’ve been following Quins since I was 10,
and I’m now 31, so in that time I’ve seen a lot of setups and
we’ve been in reverse since the giddy days of 2012. Everyone’s
entitled to opinions, but other than blind faith that his third
season in charge will be polar opposites to the first 2, I don’t
think he’s taking us in the right direction to be anything other
       than a win 1 lose 2-3 side

This is what is so frustrating. An OK performance and a win is
almost inevitably followed up by a dreadful one and a thumping.

I don't think Gustard should go. I think he and his coaches need
to get a grip and start making sure players know there are
       consequences for playing like idiots.
None of Gustard, Flannery, or Long strike me as being soft. So
why on earth are Quins so soft? Why are they so stupid at times?
Why are they incapable of standing up to physical teams? Why do
they only put a shift in once the game is lost? It's been yet
another absolutely appalling non-performance, this time in front
of paying fans for the first time in months, and Quins are
playing like it's an end-of-season jolly where it's just about
having a few drinks and having a jolly with your mates.
Too many players get talked up for middling performances or for
showing sparks of talent among the mediocrity. Nathan Earle
continues to mess up in defence time and again and makes really
bad decisions with ball in hand, and hasn't improved. Dombrandt
continues to be anonymous for large stretches of matches instead
of working all 80 minutes. Care continues to prefer to moan and
flap and put his own team in trouble under pressure. Mediocre
players continue to earn a living at Quins despite never coming
good on whatever promise they showed.
You can get lesser talented players to play to a game plan, to
stick to the task, and to front up. Quins under Deano were like
that. AJ was no more talented than Herron but he had bottle and
knew what he was trying to do. We all give Lasike a pass for his
obvious failings, because he also provides us with an obvious
weapon in attack and most importantly that often pays off. But
the same is true for most of the other players - they have big
failings and they often DON'T make up for it with their play.
Who was surprised when Will Collier got repeatedly destroyed in
the scrum by Lewis Boyce? Who was surprised when we kept
throwing appalling passes or incredibly speculative offloads
after having almost no ball? Who was surprised when it turned
out that Bath had two better scrumhalves than our best
scrumhalf? Who was surprised when we butchered scoring
opportunities time and again? Who was surprised by dumb
       penalties?
I'm certain the coaching staff can see the same thing. Take the
damn gloves off and stop coddling this team.

Your opinion. I too have supported the club for 20+ years.
I am an optimist yes, however as I have learned in life, you get
nothing for short termisim. It is the problem with a lot of
       sports and life in general.
People were calling for Clive Woodwards head after the poor
performance in the 1999 world cup.
Rob Baxter at Exeter has shown a great model in Rugby Alex
Ferguson in Football. Gustard may never be as good as those
three but to get rid of him now is not an intelligent thing to
       do.

Bath had really done their home work on what we did v Saints and
not playing Smith was a disaster.

There was allegedly a big bollocking from the coaches after the
Worcs game. What does this say about the players respect for
       their bosses?
I suspect confidence is low among the coaches let alone the
players and no one knows how to get out of it because they are
not just good enough to achieve top 6.

I think the bigger issue is strength in depth of the squad. Our
first fifteen can mix it but the drop off in quality is stark.
Competition for places drives performances. We have too many
players who are almost guaranteed starters and there are no
       consequences for delivering average performances.
I've a bit of sympathy for Gustard with our three SA's
unavailable. But another serious recruitment drive is needed.
We need two horrible locks, at least two flankers and a back up
       FH.
We have talented backs but they're just not being given a
       consistent platform.

Weaker players is just an excuse. Yes, we have too much dead
wood. But there's no excuse for a lack of effort and such an
appalling lack of cohesion, or bottle.

What a lovely response, were to start, no I haven't drank today,
yes I do also support a football team.
I assume by your stereotype based responce you are one of those
privately educated toffs who think they are better than others
as they grew up with a trust fund and that if others have an
opinion they are just a drunk football hooligan?
       Am I close?
Everyone is entitled to an opinion!
