It also depends on what is available. Just because you need a
monster Lock doesn't mean there is one coming through the
Academy.

Which is exactly what I’m saying.
Hammond and Tizard are both highly rated, so as much as I want
to see us sign another lock, I don’t want their pathway blocked.

It's the comparison with Josh, who was for us the guy who we
were hoping might develop but clearly was some way off being a
match day squad player, and was signed to give Sarries some beef
behind multiple players in his position. Morris was supposed to
fill a perennial weakness for us, i.e. we had no decent
alternative should Brown be unavailable. It's not so much being
as good as / better than Brown (who, let's be honest, is not the
player he was) but a player who could be trusted to start at 15
should the need arise.
If we signed Morris to be a Josh sort of player then it was a
very bad idea and left us with one viable fullback. Which is why
I rather doubt that's what we did - but it is of course possible
that we viewed Ross Chisholm and James Lang as perfectly
acceptable alternatives, which scares me a little.

Plus I will absolutely admit to not realising he'd never made
the Sarries 1st XV during his time there, which certainly gives
more credence to the idea that he was meant to be more of a
development player. Which, as stated, worries me!! :)

But every time you change your DOR/ Head coach you either loose
or change players as you alter the way you play or what he is
looking for in a team. Everyone has their own ideas.
