They've basically made the "Pool Stages" a modified Shaughnessy
playoff, with Tier 1 v Tier 4 (admittedly with it being two x
two legs, home & away against the two teams in the other tier
than your own. This vastly favours the Tier 1 & 2 qualified
teams. In the normal system, the best teams are more spread out,
so the chances of meeting multiple top tier teams was diminished
and there was a chance of picking up points against the
mid/lower ranked teams.

The outline rules are a tad confusing on the Saracens situation
although with Newcastle named as already in the challenge cup
I’m assuming that in the detail there is an override that all
clubs have to be currently in their top domestic league to be be
eligible to play in either cup .*NB If not already ranked number
one, the winners of the 2020 Heineken Champions Cup will become
the second-ranked club from its league. If not already qualified
for the Heineken Champions Cup, the winners of the 2020
Challenge Cup will take the place of the eighth-ranked club from
its league.

Love it. With the COVID situation next season good chance for
Quins to be playing the best teams in Europe. Much rather see us
play the likes of Leinster at full strength in a comp that means
something than a second string French team as they are playing
away. Gives us a chance (hopefully) next season to test
ourselves.
Will be a one off comp setup so year after back to normal!
