"arniepie was right, though I'm still not comfortable with leaks
about retirement like this"
Not sure anything could be done. Things like this are known
about well before it's officially announced, I guess it's up to
the individual who knows whether they let it out into the public
domain. Then they'll always be people who don't want to know
until it's 'official' and those that do want to know every
snippet of info

Who do you sign though? Saffers cant get out of SA and we have
this extensive quarantine business going on too. Does it need to
be a UK signing?

So sad for him and a shame for the club too. Think that's all
the academy grads from his year now gone from quins.
He was so quick but maybe that just increased the impacts he
took in the back row.
Difficult to say how much he'll be missed given how little game
time he's had recently, but his ability and further potential
certainly will be. Above all though it's just really sad for him

Yes, it is up to arnie to post or not. But I don't think the
info he gets is intended for public ears. It doesn't bother me
when it comes to contract stuff, but something like this is more
personal. Just my opinion and based on a gut feeling, that's
all.

My issue is that it’s rarely positive news and he very rarely
gets involved in the discussion. It’s basically dropping a
bombshell and then walking away.
He clearly has an axe to grind against PG which is his
prerogative. I’m just not sure this is the right place for
posting ‘leaks’.

I'm not the only one gutted. A back row of 6 Chisholm / 7
Clifford / 8 Dombrandt was the one I was looking forward to
seeing come together - and I, too, had him down as future
captain. Really sad times.

Yes TBQ, what a backrow combo that would have been. It is very
sad that we shall not see that combination in all it's pomp. And
there is no doubt that the Jackman would have been club captain.
He was a natural leader of men and has been a great ambassador
for Harlequins Rugby Club. I really enjoyed watching the tribute
by Big George, Sinck and Charlie. Well said lads. I do hope that
when this health crisis is gone and the fans are back at The
Stoop that we shall be able to pay tribute to Jack for all he
has done for the club in his short but wonderful career.

John Barclay who’s been forced to retire because of no interest
from any clubs would have been a good short term experienced
option

I very much agree with this.

Ben Earl would have been perfect in my mind but that ship has
sailed. I'd love to see us poach Jack Willis but that's not
going to happen. In answer to your question, I don't know!
