Spectators at Rugby Matches?
DIR By: Domestos

Spectators are to be allowed at football matches.

I don't know what the levels mean and what the equivalent is in
Rugby.
Are we going to see spectators at Rugby matches any time soon?

Ireland has just changed their rules from allowing up to 200
spectators to a game to zero.

I would guess that rugby will follow the route that Football is
going through in that Beeb article. It's easy to get social
distancing at lower levels as there's far less people. A few
hundred at a level 4 game who can spread around the touchlines
is a completely different proposition to Championship or
Premiership crowds.

My local team Salisbury said they have heard nothing specific
from the FA, but if the article is true then they are hopeful of
possibly having fans in for a couple of pre-season matches.
Social distancing shouldn't be an issue - ground holds 3500 but
we rarely get over 800.

I’ll be surprised if we are back before the new year. With
conference south not allowing spectators in October for
football, it will a miracle if we get any crowds in as it’s
currently not being considered.

I'd be amazed if we got club rugby before January (Really hope
I'm wrong). At which time crowds should hopefully be allowed
back. It will be the social distance rules indoors that will
hurt club rugby at the moment you're only allowed 30 people
indoors. Before and after a game we have 3 times that at my
local club. Hopefully by the time club rugby can be played then
social distancing indoors will be relaxed a lot.

As it applies to Quins. Then hopefully they can find a way to
have fans at games the same as has been managed in Australia.
Not full stadiums but socially distanced fans. Better than none
at all. Maybe a third full. Made the games played at the SCG
look like the ground was empty but that is a very big stadium.

I liked the suggestion of playing home games at the Big Stoop.
We could definitely socially distance 15,000 people in there.
But would it be so expensive as to not be worth it? On the other
hand the RFU have got all these people with redundancy hanging
over them, perhaps this is a way of keeping some of them
working? I'd hope the club has at least considered/queried this.

Is it not a CV19 Hospital at the Moment, or have I imagined
that?

It was. I thought they'd shut those, because the RFU was going
to do something for the last bank holiday (or was it this one).
Maybe it's there waiting for C19-W2!
