I watch a lot of club rugby. Scrums reset far faster than in the
premiership. Refs should just get them back in and scrum.
Penalise the team that is slowest in reseting. We had Luke
Pearce Ref a charity game at my local club. He had some
interesting things to say about the game but he was impressed
that both teams just got on with it at scrum time. The next day
he Reffed Bath v Wasps and he was trying to get them to speed up
the reset scrums.

I think the problem is that scrum-halves these days don’t know
how to strike.

Any good hooker can get an arm free if required ;)

Nobody is saying get rid of them, just get on with them. It's a
restart, not the game itself. It's a bit of a lottery too, far
too many pens.

Agree entirely. Scrums are called for minor technical offences
but these days are a major source of penalties.
Is a knock-on really worth 3 points?

Yep. Scrums are a method of restarting the game. Have one reset
and if it breaks up again without fault then give a free-kick to
the side with the put in and let's play rugby.

Based on current practice, they'd take another scrum

Very true but I wouldn't allow that!
