PREMIERSHIP RUGBY CONFIRM 2019-20 PREMIERSHIP RUGBY CUP FINAL TO
TAKE PLACE ON MONDAY 21 SEPTEMBER, LIVE ON BT SPORT 1 HD.
The final - which will kick off at 7.45pm - was initially
postponed last March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the Club
set to take on last weekend's Premiership opponents Sale Sharks
at the AJ Bell Stadium next month.
The Sharks are going for their first trophy since winning the
Premiership in 2006, while Harlequins look to add to the trophy
cabinet for the first time since claiming an Anglo-Welsh Cup win
in 2013, beating Sale 32-14 in the final at Sixways seven years
ago.
Steve Diamond’s men topped their pool earlier in the season with
four wins from four before comfortably seeing off Saracens 28-7
in the semi-finals.
Harlequins led the way in Group B with three victories and
delivered a stunning performance in the last four, travelling to
Sandy Park and scoring seven tries in a 49-22 victory over
Exeter Chiefs.

I do have three tickets for this game, don’t know what the
situation will be regarding letting Joe Public in, but the
thought of a Monday evening at the AJ Bell does not inspire me
with enthusiasm. However, if we are allowed in, I will go along
and make as much noise as I can. COYQ!!

Interesting timing. We’ll both want some silverware, but if
we’re both pushing for top 4 it’ll be a real test of squad depth
in an already very congested fixture list.

I'm missing something - why couldn't we play w/e of 25
September?

We'll have one less rest day than Sale, as we play on the Monday
evening on the w/e before, they play on the Sunday. We should
then have the full week before our next game (The only other
games that w/e are Euro quarter finals). Sale, however may be
playing a mid-week game after as they face Northampton who could
be going to the Euro Semifinal the w/e following our Cup final.

That weekend is still to be set for Round 21 matches. Given
there's also Euro knockout games, they've some juggling to do re
fixtures & rest times for a number of teams.

Currently no information available on ticket refunds from Sharks
Ticket Office for those like me who can`t make a Monday even if
fans were allowed in.
`Due to Covid-19 and following government guidelines the stadium
is not currently operational. This will be reviewed as further
advice is received. The outside pitches are closed until further
notice. If you have a block booking this will be held for when
we reopen. All ticket enquiries and refund enquiries will be
looked into on our return. Please be assured that should you
wish to attend any rescheduled game your current tickets will
remain valid.`

The Ticketing Manager is also a member of the SSSC Facebook
group and has mentioned several times that she is on furlough.
I'd guess she's not the only one.

Is it possible to downgrade this tournament any further than by
playing the final on a Monday night!?!

It's unavoidable, given they're trying to fit in not just the
Premiership but the European Competitions AND the 6 Nations.
They have to make sure that even though neither we or Sale are
involved in the European competitions at this point, some of our
opposition over the next few weeks *are* so they (PRL & EPCR)
have to avoid overloading teams with too many short turnarounds
between games.
