       Well Said, Ugo

Why is this so hard for some people to understand? Maybe they'll
       get it if Ugo explains.

Good article and he should be praised for his efforts.
I for one don't understand the whole take knee, taking a knee is
a submissive action, surely standing tall and proud side by side
with all peoples of all races and faiths would be a more
       appropriate symbol.
The only time I take a knee or would take a knee is to the Wife,
The Queen or my Lord and Saviour.

You may already know this but its use has been adopted from when
Colin Kaepernick (NFL player) refused to stand proud during the
American anthem at the beginning of a game, over the treatment
of black people, and knelt instead.
So it may seem an odd gesture on the face of it but less so,
       when you consider its origin.

It may be that people DO understand it, but have a different
       view.
The whole country could takle a knee, and it wouldn't make a
       difference IMO.
But here's a little fact that the BLM movement seems to dodge:
the biggest threat to young black males is other young black
males. It seems that BL don't necessarily M to other BLs.

Aha, so now we know that SwindonQuin is actually Dominic Raab.

       So, to summarise..........
Lots of people are racist (although I do think a lot of them
       don't realise they are).
There's no point trying to do anything about it.
       Blacks are worse than whites.
       Got it.

excellent article thx for posting it up Cookie. With regards to
point 3 raised by Quinky, sadly that is fairly accurate and is
down to the awful gang culture that exists in many cities today.
That is exactly where rugby with a core value of mutual respect
and inclusivity could help. Kyle was very open about how much
rugby helped him avoid exactly that kind of toxic lifestyle that
sadly too many youngsters get drawn into, for reasons i am not
sure i will ever be able to understand. But because that gang
culture exists, do not use it as an excuse for not facing up to
other issues that exist. Just don't get drawn into any
unnecessary other political agendas that attach themselves to a
noteworthy cause. Ugo is very clear about that.

90% of black men are killed by black men. But then 83% of white
men are killed by white men.
But, and here's the real problem, white men killing black men is
all to often by law enforcement. BTW, let's remember we're
really talking more about the US than the UK.

Great article, thanks for sharing. I think Ugo's view on this
comes across as very measured - he's saying that this is a way
for us to raise awareness and continue the conversation.
Much as the pride day at the stoop earlier in the season did, if
this causes a handful of people to challenge their assumptions
and as a result makes our game more open to people of more
backgrounds, it can only be a good thing.
...racism is not relatable to a lot of people. That is the
fundamental point here – we are trying to make it relatable, to
       increase awareness and understanding

More white people are killed by law enforcement than black
people. Statistics are funny things, aren't they...
