Squad for next season

Who knows what will happen with this season or indeed when next
season will start, but based upon what we know so far, how are
we looking ATM?
I have (rumoured players in brackets and rumoured leavers with
*):
1. Marler / Garcia Botta / (Els)
2. Baldwin / Elia / Gray / Musk / Crumpton*
3. Louw / Kerrod / (Trenier)
4. Lewies / Young / Lamb
5. Symons / Cavubati
6. J. Chisholm / Bothma*
7. Clifford / Evans
8. Dombrandt / Lawday
9. Care / Landajo / Saunders
10. Smith / Herron
11. Earle / Ibitoye / R. Chisholm
12. Esterhuizen / Lasike / Tapuai*
13. Marchant / Lang / Campagnaro
14. Ashton / Murley / Goneva*
15. Brown / Green / Morris
Not sure on academy promos to the senior squad.
Riley? Baxter? Tizard? Hammond?
Definitely coming together and looking stronger than last season
IMO.
Looking light at 9 and in the back row but if rumours are
anything to go by, it looks like PG’s on the case there.

The way PG spoke in a recent interview, Im pretty sure Tapuai is
staying **

Indeed I did. I suspect Buchanan’s still hoping for some games
to be played this season For a farewell as I can’t see him being
retained.
I’d be happy if Tapuai stays. When he’s fit, he’s consistently
good and is valuable as a player who’s able to play 12 and 13.

Looking at the options for 15, I would move Morris to another
position and then get Joe Gray to move to #15 as well. Maybe
they could be joined by Archie White.
We just need a Mr Pink to join and then we would have all the
guys from Reservoir Dogs.

Yep. Probably better to refer back to AdrianB’s link.
Maybe we use this thread to talk about the squad rather than
double other people’s (more comprehensive) efforts.

1.) We are missing some real quality and size in the second row
to support our monsters in the front row.
2). 9 is another weak area but I feel care and landjo can do a
decent job for another season if they stay fit.
3). Also a bit concerning if smith gets injured or called up by
England, feel like we could really benefit from a old wise fly
half to fill in the gaps in his absence and close out games when
things need tightening up. (If only we had a experienced ex al
black international on the coaching team).
Everything else is looking promising

Good point on the 10. I imagine having Steenson around has been
a benefit for Joe Simmonds for example. I wonder if that’s why
we were linked with Brock James last season (I’m not suggesting
we try to tempt him out of retirement!).
Finding that kind of player who is happy to be the wise older
head ho is second choice to a younger player is a tricky one.
Probably better (and more likely) to find a second option who is
better than Herron and can challenge Smith a bit more.
