Was that the game when "Madmax" said "Mmmmmm.......not a bad
signing" over the PA system?

Daly is a fabulous player but a mediocre fullback. Goode is a
great club fullback but can’t translate it to the pace of the
international game. Neither is a particularly good example of
what a fullback should be able to do. Both needed other members
of the team to cover for their deficiencies.
Brown in 2016 was probably the best season we’ve seen from a
fullback in the last decade. Quins and England could do with
someone who can reach that level. Daly might in time, but his
learning process has been painful at times.

Pourfour....Well I am glad that Eddie is picking the England
team. Daly is getting the same mindless abuse from fans that
Mike Brown used to get.
In my eyes and obviously England set up, Daly is too good an
attacking full-back / second/third playmaker to drop. He tried
to mix up with the young lad Furbank in Paris. That didn't go
too well.
Each player has their strengths and weaknesses, however Daly
offers pace, a great step, he's big enough to tackle and has a
boot which can relieve pressure and offer a left foot option.
Also, his drop goal / long-range penalties mean he has to be in
the team.
If you can recall the six nations, he played very well and
looked much more comfortable at FB.

I can recall the Six Nations. He looked great in attack, but
actively avoided the high ball and was at fault for several
tries in defence. He is looking more comfortable at fullback,
but that's from a very low base.
He is a brilliant attacking player and has abundant skills, but
he's being shoehorned in at fullback because there is more
competition for the wing and OC berths. In time, he might get
there, but it means investing in Daly as primary fullback over
the next RWC cycle and accepting the conceded tries and losses
that come with that. Personally, I would rather see Daly on the
wing and Watson at fullback, at least in defence.
You can call that mindless abuse if you like, but the facts are
that he does one aspect of the fullback's job (being a secondary
playmaker) very well indeed, and the other two or three aspects
at a level that is currently below that of most starting
Premiership fullbacks.

Yeah uh Daly is a really poor defender and terrible in the air,
plus managed to add quite a few errors to his game. He works out
alright as a winger, but at 15 he's been a disaster on a number
of occasions.
Brown got "abuse" for being not express pace, but only received
real criticism when he started playing poorly post-concussion.
Furbank is one of the few specialist 15s around, and while he
was definitely picked too soon, it's not a surprise that Eddie
was willing to gamble.

Watch how England play in attack and you'll see why Daly is at
15. Typically, he's standing in the 13 channel before Tuilagi as
a third playmaker. It also allows England to split two
playmakers on one side of the ruck, with a third playmaker on
the other.
If you watch the NZ semi-final game, the way those three
exploited the space and moved the AB defence around was
fantastic. If you put Daly on the wing you're going to lose that
fluency. In the France game in the 6N England look so much
better when Daly is moving around the pitch looking for work.
May's 2nd try comes when Daly is operating as a second reciever
off Farrell.
Likewise, put Daly at 13 and you lose the freedom for him to
roam around in attack, as well as losing Tuilagi's power.
Has he made some defensive shockers? Sure. But having a third
playmaker is key to how England are looking to attack. So for a
"specialist 15" to replace him, they need to be as good with the
ball in hand. It's not one aspect of the fullback's job that he
does very well - he does exactly what England want in attack
very well.

Yes, I've also watched that video that's doing the rounds about
England's play vs NZ. It's very good.
Attack is only half the game, though. And with England it's
frequently it's less than half. And, to be clear, Daly
frequently has matches where he really isn't tearing up trees in
attack either - his best attacking form has also been on the
wing.
Having a bombscare at fullback is going to hurt more often than
it helps, unless they are dominating games with ball in hand.
Daly's doesn't do that often. The final is a good example of how
he can hurt England.

Are you joking...Brown got abuse for not being able to pass!!
Just like Daly has been told he cant defend...! It is myopic
abuse that all fans seem to trot out....watch the games again
lately and you will see a much improved player.

Nope.
Brown got criticized for not passing, not that he couldn't.
Daly gets criticized for being poor in defence. This isn't
myopic, it's because he is poor in defence. I haven't seen him
get better in defence. I have seen England play well enough that
he's been given fewer opportunities to mess up.
