OT - Aled Davies decides to cut short his international career
by signing for Sarries...!

From the Beeb:
Saracens have signed Wales scrum-half Aled Davies from Ospreys
on a three-year contract.
The 27-year-old is the club's first new signing ahead of next
season.
He will play in the second-tier Championship after Saracens were
relegated from the Premiership for salary cap infringements.
The move also makes Davies ineligible for international rugby as
he has 20 caps, 40 short of the number needed to be picked when
playing outside Wales.
He is the fourth player to become unavailable for Wales
selection this month after centre Hadleigh Parkes agreed to
leave Scarlets to join Japanese side Panasonic Wild Knights,
back-row Dan Baker left Ospreys for Stade Montois in France. and
flanker Thomas Young signed a new contract with Wasps
Davies played in four of Wales' five Six Nations games when they
won the Grand Slam in 2019, starting against Italy.
"It's a great opportunity for me at a massive club," Davies told
the Saracens website.
Director of rugby Mark McCall said: "Aled is an experienced,
talented, player and we are delighted to welcome both him and
his family to Saracens.
"He is driven to take his game to new levels and we are excited
he has chosen to do that at Saracens."

I wonder if "driven to take his game to new levels" is code for
something...Championship level rather than Premiership level,
perhaps?

Haha - our club president was once elected on the promise to get
us out of our current division and sure enough we were relegated
at the end of the season!

I wonder what deal Wray gave him to move to Sarries. Advertising
for a bed company? Paid to turn up at events you do not need to
turn up at?

These comments are all very harsh. Anyone can see why a 20-cap
international in his prime would give up an international career
to play in the English second tier, for a club who are having to
offload players to comply with the rules...

Probably says more about the situation in Wales at present. Is
he not the 4th Welsh internationalist to leave Wales/stay
elsewhere recently. Including Hadleigh Parker who is, or now
was, a first choice centre.

One thing for sure he is going for more money.Cant be cheap.I
doubt he will last 3 years.
