Season Ticket Renewal (not Covid related)
DIR By: Blutakk

---------------------------------------------------------
With season ticket renewal date fast approaching, I’ve concluded
I simply don’t enjoy myself as much as I used to, and I won’t be
renewing.
I used to enjoy going to different bars, now I’ve only one and I
can’t get served decent beer, in decent time. And even the
digital fast service machines are farcical on the rare occasion
they’re both working.
I used to enjoy the really good bands and the idiot DJ that
followed on the old stage, but they’ve had to rearrange because
it’s the only bar anyone can go into. The bar used to be
pleasantly overcrowded, but now its unpleasantly overcrowded.
And the quality of the bands has nose-dived.
I used to enjoy strolling through the players lounge to that
extra toilet, but now hi-viz is everywhere, inside and outside,
telling me what I can and can’t do.
I used to enjoy seeing scores of youngsters take to the pitch to
kick the ball about, shriek like kids do, and rib the players. I
fondly recall Richie Gray good-humouredly taking 35 minutes to
cross the pitch when he was mobbed. Not allowed.
I don’t understand why all this has changed – we’re the same
size as years ago?
I also used to enjoy regular Saturday afternoons, but the number
of games now played on a Friday or Sunday means that I don’t
attend all the matches, and I feel imposed upon when I do. I
know this isn’t down to Quins, but it makes the season ticket a
lot less attractive.
So once the covid craziness is over, I’ll be buying on-the-day
tickets if poss, though we’ll still be drinking elsewhere
afterwards.
Is it just me?

No. I think the day out has changed and not for the better. It
all became too "professional" losing some of the informal charm
without actually improving any of the amateur shambles that was
always present at bars and food vendors. It has also all got a
LOT more expensive. Food, beer, tickets everything has gone up
way above inflation.

So what I took from this is there is one specific toilet you
cannot go to and you cannot stand around staring at children!
Maybe it is a good thing you do not want to go anymore. Everyone
will feel a lot safer now we know your questionable habits.
😂

Maybe grass roots rugby may be the better option
Only one bar? There’s Kings Bar and Quins head, plus others
I’ve renewed as pay by DD, and I’m hoping that the club can
weather Covid and still be there when this is all over
Does seem a bit odd your post as a lot of what you mention
changed a while ago so wonder why it’s only now, and your not
the only one , I mentioned recently at Quinssa event that a lot
of people do their drinking away from the ground, mainly because
of overcrowding etc, but still want to watch the rugby

I think a lot of clubs (not just rugby, but football/cricket
also) miss a trick when it comes to food/drink. They charge
high prices for basically crap. If they were to improve the
product on offer, more people would be inclined to use it. It
may cost more as an outlay, but i would expect better returns.
Open the grounds as early as possb, till as late as possb,
create a fun day. I find a lot of venues now seem to treat fans
as a bit on an inconvenience rather than an essential plus
point. Last season, a friend of mine was locked in the toilets
of a football (premier league) ground as they were trying to get
us out as soon as possible after the game. Does not stop me
going though

Frankly I go to the Stoop like I have since 1988 to support my
team. Win or lose Quins are my passion and will remain so. I
take your point about the bars etc but as a real ale drinker I
don't use them anyway. Much prefer the Sussex Arms pre game and
maybe afterwards before the train journey back to Hampshire. Any
match day experience is enhanced when we win. When we lose sadly
I don't have the appetite to hang around. Each to their own.

I have renewed my season ticket for next season,I still enjoy
the atmosphere at the stoop and meeting up with friends who i
only see on match day as i live in north Lincolnshire. However I
find away games a more pleasurable experience meeting up with
similar Quins fans in a pub before the match and sitting or
standing together we create our own atmosphere .

Agree and always a pleasure seeing you both at the big stoop
too.
