Eddie Jones calls for Subs to be reduced to 6

       (Gaurdian)
Meanwhile, Eddie Jones has called for a reduction in the number
of replacements used in rugby from eight to six in what would
constitute a radical law change to the game. The England head
coach, who has repeatedly predicted the rise of more versatile
“hybrid” players who can interchange between the forwards and
backs, believes fewer replacements would lead to less emphasis
       on power.
“With eight subs you can replace half your team in the second
half, so you’ve got power [as a focus],” Jones told the Rugby
Ruckus podcast. “All those things have built a game where it’s
suiting the power players … We should cut down the subs to six,
which would put a different aspect on the game. So imagine that
you carried three front-rows, one lock who could play back-row,
one half-back and then a back-line player that can cover from 10
to 15. That would certainly make it a more fatiguing game
because you wouldn’t get that half a team being replaced.”

Definitely worth looking at. The only alteration I'd suggest is
       to consider 5 replacements.
It should help to address the lack of defensive holes that the
50:22 law is intended to resolve - the game should open-up more
       as it progresses.
Also, as you reduce the number of power based players, it may
reduce some of the injuries - though this may be offset by
       tiredness related injuries.
And ... it would reduce the squad size that clubs need, which
will probably be very important financially over the next few
       years.

How to shorten the length of high level playing career of the
       forwards in one easy change.

It's still 3 front rows, and one back/second row. You might well
end up with a hooker who can play 7.

I think reducing the subs is a good idea.
       - it makes it easier to field teams as you need a smaller squad.
       - you don't get as many "tactical replacements" as you need to
hold players back on the bench in case you get injuries.
       - you get fewer "wonder tries" where a fresh player comes off
the bench and runs rings around all of the hard working forwards
who have slogged their guts out for 79 minutes.
I would even think of reducing further. i.e. Front row + 1
Players would play more sensibly if they know that they are
playing for a full 80 and with the knowledge that if they get a
minor injury during the game, they will need to stay on the
       pitch.

So this is where Harlequins lot hide out
Can we have non-injury subs at just half time and at the 60min
       mark.
I am sure there will be some untended consequences of teams
playing around with the rules. But this idea being mooted by
Jones is also coming from the medical and conditioning people
who are saying that bringing on 8 players during the second half
has made the game more about power than rugby.

       Why are these considering positives?
Smaller squads means fewer players making a living.
No tactical replacements means less flexibility for teams to
turn things around and potentially makes for fewer comebacks
       Wonder tries are bad now?

I don't really like the idea of wonder tries.
How many times do we see the try that Gabs scored when he came
on late against a tiring Bath team. It just creates hype around
       players.
On the other hand, I think that in the same game, one of the
Bath forwards (can't remember who) ran the length of the pitch
with a few minutes to go and made a tackle to stop a try scoring
       move.
In my opinion, this was far more worthy of mention.
