World Rugby guidance re Coronavirus
DIR By: dr_miles

This article cites some guidance from World Rugby about
restarting rugby in the current situation. It suggests that if a
player tests positive in full squad training then all other
players would need to be quarantined.

Bonkers. I have a friend who's an ICU nurse normally at a
private hospital bit had volunteered to go to the Nightingale in
Docklands. She's done one shift and now apparently it's being
mothballed.....

Rocker, I don't quite understand your point. The Nightingale
hospitals were an insurance policy to be called upon if and when
the existing facilities became overwhelmed. They provided the
extra capacity that was calculated to be required if the 'R'
transmission rate stayed at 3 - A world of hurt leading to
200,000 deaths.
As it happens the 'lockdown' has kept the 'R' down and the
facilities are now being placed on standby in the event of an
explosive 2nd wave of infections. The staff who volunteered to
run the facility (and who we very much appreciate) have been
stood down but could be recalled if the situation changes.
I understand all of this. It's logical. What's bonkers about
it?

Who or what is bonkers?
If the Nightingale Hospital facility had been found necessary,
but hadn't been provided for, would you have said "Bonkers"?
Are you Harlequins very own Piers Morgan?

Does your friend the nurse usually administer your medication,
looks like you missed a dose when she was doing her shift!!!

Annoyingly, I can't find the guide on the World Rugby website.
I would prefer to read the actual guidelines rather that the
Guardian's interpretation of the guidelines.
From reading the D Tel and Guardian -
1. the advice seems completely unworkable for pro teams -
although they could work for the community game.
2. I think that there is a drive to get the game more of a "TV"
event than a "Live" event - which may be a ploy to push up the
cost of broadcasting rights.
But, without reading the source documents, it is really
difficult to know.

The last home match - Harlequins v Exeter Chiefs 34-30 (29/2/20
- 15:00) seems so long ago. What a lovely day it was in the
south stand, starting and finishing in the Prince Albert pub by
Twickenham Green with, of course, an obligatory stop-off in the
Kings bar. Memories are made of this!
