No 1 is NEv for me. He consistently player to such a high level
that he raised the entire squad.

So many options in different era's
Nick Evans is quite simply the best signing Quins have ever made
- he was in his prime, paid big money and made a huge impact
over a significant period of time.
But Quins do not have the best record with big name signings -
so many TOP TOP Players that have flattered to deceive. (Stuart
Abbot, De Wet Barry, Jamie Roberts, Geo Cronje, Jeremy
Staunton... the list goes on and on)
But in picking out players to improve our squad from other teams
- there are some cracking ones:
Mike Ross - Part-time amateur Irish club player to international
front row -
JJ - not really wanted anywhere, bounced around a few academies
- at Quins became feared.
Mel Deane - Arrived in the middle of the season when we had no
centres and just brought the best attitude
Nick Easter - Arrived from Orrell - Absolute super star, and so
exciting - playing in the team that gog relegated - he was THE
bright spot.
Karl Dickson - He was well known outside of the prem - but still
made a huge impact / David Strettle falls into this category as
well i think - although younger on arrival - more potential
Danny Care - signed from relegated Leeds - had pedigree, but not
all the young players make it -
Andy Gomersall - came from no-where, having turned into a bit of
a journeyman, bouncing from club to club - took Quins up a level
with his play and made it back to England honours
Kohn - Great option - signed, having had a long term injury -
but got fit and then just was a beast
Big Mo - was probably the best CoS signing - just brought a
level physicality we've never really seen at the Stoop and
clearly loved every minute of it.
Matt Hopper - another who had bounced around academies, then
ended up in Australia playing club rugby - before Plymouth and
then Pirates - he was a wonderful second option - always gave
his all.
Another interesting angle is the number of players that leave
Quins and go onto similar or better things - Strettle / Ross /

In terms of value for money I’d also add in Will Skinner and
Dave Ward, both gave us something different at the ruck and
complimented the likes of Robshaw /Easter /Big Mo well.

Tony Diprose must also be in with a shout.
One more vote for George Harder as well - I still remember him
scoring a try with about four oppo players hanging on to him
from about 15 yards out - he was NOT going to be stopped!
