The article refers only to players. What about coaches? Codling?

Having been a season ticket holder for 20 years, I reckon I can
put together an entire XV of worst Quins signings. My
suggestions:-
Props: PDJ (obviously) and ?Adam Jones (love the bloke but did
we get value as a player)
Hookers: Scott Baldwin (apart from 2 games), Rob Buchanan
2nd Row: Geo Cronje & Nick Kennedy
Back Row: Ace Tiaitia, Paul Volley and ?
Scrum Halves: Steve Soialo, Tito Tebaldi
Fly Halves: Jeremy Staunton, Craig Chalmers
Centres:Hal Luscombe, De Wet Barry
Wings: Dafydd James, Paul Sackey
Full Back: Difficult because Mike Brown and Gavin Duffy have
dominated the era
Need some help to fill in some gaps !

Kent Bray sticks in my mind as a player who never reached
expectations.
Surprised nobody has mentioned Catrakilis, a big money signing
who never did much, and following his return after a dreadful
injury was terrified of any contact whatsoever, not a good trait
in a 10.

Chris Ashton in terms f value for money not looking great, he
has no job we sign him and pay him and get nothing, we could
have signed him for the start of next season. This is a it
tongue in cheek but he has been very fortunate.

Olly Smith. Not his fault but still not much value to us.

Paul Volley was past his best but wasn't terrible, Staunton
wasn't a bad player but unfairly remembered for one kick! Also,
thought Steve So'oialo was a good 9 - enjoyed watching him play!

Abbott and Ollie Smith were two top-quality players who didn't
do much for Quins largely due to injury, more What Might Have
Beens than bad signings/flops.
I don't remember Sackey being particularly bad for us.
De Wet Barry would be my choice from my time watching Quins
(since 2004), a player who seemed to me to be unfathomably
ineffective in attack and defence, especially for a seasoned
international.
Catrakilis, even allowing for his horrible injury, was very poor
when he did play, and I couldn't see what qualities might have
been lurking beneath that made us sign him. I wasn't a fan of
Malone, but he slightly surpassed my low expectations.

De Wet Barry was the player that immediately came to mind.
Reading through this thread there are players that I completely
forgot that we signed - Hal Luscombe and Daffyd James in
particular.
Scott Baldwin is close for me too, only because we've been
crying out for a top hooker for years and he has failed to live
up to his reputation.
Looking at all of the names, we have an absolutely terrible
record on signing centres!

Yes I remember the supposedly excellent centre combination that
was supposed to be Luscombe and Abbott...
Or go back a bit further Greenwood and we had a Welsh Lion
alongside him, can't remember the name... I remember Greenwood
not being that popular but he always added something.
We don't have a lot of luck with centres.... They always seem to
break or be pants 🙄
